Working from home can be stressful from time to time but it also means you get to decorate your own home office if you have the space for one. When I first started working from home, I worked from the comfort of my bed or the sofa. Over time I realised my work was suffering because I wasn't motivated to work so I decided to make myself a little office. Since then I was meeting deadlines and more motivated to work as I enjoyed my workspace.
Here are some of my top tips for decorating your own office/workspace:
I like to have motivational quotes and images in view when I work. We all have those mornings when you wake up in a bad mood whether you are employed or self employed and working from home... especially Monday mornings! So why not help motivate yourself with some inspiring motivating quotes on the wall and around your desk to look at when you need that pick me up!
Plenty of storage
Having plenty of storage is the key to keeping your workspace clutter free and minimal. Whether it be filing cabinets, Ikea Alex drawers, a Kallax unit or box files get some! Once your office becomes clear your mind can become clear and you can concentrate on other things instead of wondering where your invoices are or when you need to do your tax return by.
Keep clutter under control
You've heard the saying a clear desk = a clear mind, well it's true! It's hard to concentrate and think straight when your office or workspace is out of control. Keep on top of it by allocating yourself a couple of hours each week or month to have a sort out and organise paperwork into the correct files and get rid of any rubbish.
Decide on a colour
Whether it be a neutral colour for a calm vibe or with a pop of colour, certain colours can effect our mood. If you don't have the time or aren't into decorating why not hire an office interior design company such as Office Principles to come and decorate for you. A fresh coat of paint on the walls can make the world of difference.
