New Year, Back To School, And Birthday Planning | #LittleLoves

Happy Friday!

Hope you've all had a great week. It's been quite a busy week here with the new year and Amelia going back to school. I do love a new year. There's nothing better than starting fresh, packing away the christmas tree and decorations and having a proper sort out. I've decided that I want to take part in more linkies this year and #LittleLoves is one of them so I will try and link up each week this time!
Here's what we've been loving this week:

I've not really done much reading this past week unless you count online shopping? It's Harry's birthday on the 16th so I have been buying the last of the bits of his presents. If you'd like to see what I've bought him then you can have a read here. I don't have anything planned as such for his birthday so it will probably be a quiet one at home as it's a school day.

I've been watching a lot more TV in the evenings recently seeing as I took some time off from blogging over Christmas instead of being glued to my laptop every evening. I've enjoyed watching some films and finally got round to watching Me after You. I started watching it on the plane on the way home from the Dominican but with a sleeping baby in my arms who kept waking up and getting caught in the headphones I ended up giving up about half way through. I'm glad that I did though otherwise I would have probably woke everyone up crying my eyes out haha!

The kids have loved watching Finding Dory over and over again! Amelia and I went to see it at the cinema a few months back but it was still nice to watch it again and Harry loves Nemo and Dory.

In an attempt to eat healthier and save money for a house deposit I am cutting back on the takeaways and aiming to cook at least 5 nights a week. Earlier in the week I cooked a fakeaway chow mein which was delicious!! Amelia loved it too! It was really easy to make and would have saved me around £15 which I would have spent minimum on a takeaway for myself so I'll definitely be cooking it again when I get the cravings for a chinese.

I also made some new years resolutions which you can read all about here as well as a family bucket list for the year which I hope I can complete and tick off as many as we can.

I got my nails done last week for the New Year and have been loving the colour. I'm due to go back next week and I'm so tempted to keep them! I've really been enjoying getting my nails done ever since I went on holiday back in November. I had never been to get my nails painted or had acrylics prior to this so it's nice being able to treat myself every now and again.

I also bought myself a new Selfish Mother t-shirt last month as I managed to shrink my other one in the tumble dryer. Woops. So I've been loving wearing that again. I love their clothing and next on my list is a couple of the sweaters. P.s don't mind the dirty mirror! Never stays clean with little hands in this house!

Ever since I bought my Amazon echo and dots I have been loving listening to music again. I only ever used to listen to music when I was out in the car, but now I have the radio or Spotify playing all the time at home. I would always have the TV on for some background noise during the day but never actually watch it so it's nice to have some music on or the radio for a change. It feels good to be up to date with the latest music and news for the first time in years!

Now that Amelia is back at school I feel like I can finally get back into a proper routine and actually get back to work although Harry now has the chicken pox so that will probably be pushed back another week. It's been nice having all this time off but there comes a point where by the end of the holidays you're all getting annoyed with each other and can't wait for some peace and quiet or at least in my house!

Linking up with #LittleLoves. If you'd like to join in just copy and paste the prompts above and link up your post over at Morgana's blog here

  1. Love love LOVE those nails - I used to have mine all the time but I've had them off for about 6 months to give my own nails a chance. I do miss having pretty nails though. That fakeaway looks yummy - I've had to start cooking as well since the OH is back at work and meal planning is making it easier. I might have a go at making chow mein because I know the kids will eat it! #LittleLoves

    1. Ahh that's a shame. I have been told by many people that they do mess up your nails. I'm having them another month or so with backfills to let my natural ones grow as I'm really bad for biting them. It's so easy to make! They will love it :) x

  5. OOh I've heard lots of good things about the Echo Dot, after hearing about from the mums at school I really want one! Good work on the Fakeaway, I want to learn how to cook more chinese and Thai food this year as I love it but don't always want to resort to takeaways. Love your nails too, having them done is such a treat :-) #LittleLoves

  7. Aww no the poor little thing. At least he has it done and over with then and he should be okay by the time he has his second birthday party. :)
Love the t-shirt. I am glad I am not along on the shrinking. We have a dryer in our new house and I use it all the time because we didn't have one prior to that. I probably shrinked a few things already. ha I actually haven't linked up to this series before.

  10. Oh no - chicken pox! :( I hope he's better soon. I'm loving your blog at the moment Kerry - so much family stuff, tips and everything I love to read. Your photos are beautiful too. We don't buy takeaways often but your chow mein looks lovely. I need to read more about the Echo - keep hearing about it but no idea what it does or if it would be good for us - off to Google x
