Weekly Meal Plan #1

I've spoken many times before on here about meal planning and cutting down our weekly food shop, but I always end up going back on my word and end up back in my bad habits. I am currently saving up for a mortgage so I am trying to save as much money as possible which means I need to be more ruthless with our weekly shop and also start meal planning again. Now that we're back in some sort of routine with school I want to keep on top with it and not end up ordering a takeaway because I can't be bothered to cook.

I've started shopping online again as it means I don't overspend. Over the holidays I shopped in store and was spending £100-150 a week as I would also pop in to get extra top ups during the week. This way I have set myself a £50 maximum budget and won't be going to the shops during the week. I'm hoping by meal planning again this will help keep the spending down. I'm also looking to cut down on the junk food and takeaways as we are going on holiday in November and I want to be feeling and looking healthier.

Here's what we'll be eating this week:

Sunday - Chicken Alfredo pasta with garlic bread
Monday - Pesto chicken with brown rice and broccoli
Tuesday - Spinach & feta cheese penne pasta with garlic bread
Wednesday - Left over pasta from the night before (kids at dads)
Thursday - Chicken and Potato hash from the Lean in 15 cookbook by The Body Coach
Friday - BBQ chicken breast with corn on the cob and green beans
Saturday - Takeaway (probably a chinese)

Do you meal plan? What will you be having next week?

  3. I do meal plan when I am being more sensible and trying not to spend money, like you. I find it really helps with saving money, although I do seem to need a lot of willpower to stick to it! One good thing I noticed is that it seems to save me time every evening as I don't need to decide what to cook :)
