A couple of days ago I shared a post on our first 24 hours in the Bed & Beko home including a short video of what we got up to which you can view here. We were really excited to be recruited as Beko's live-in family at their first ever Bed & Beko home in Berlin and couldn't wait to try out all of the new appliances which had been installed throughout the house. Also having never been to Germany before we were looking forward to exploring the city of Berlin.
After waking the kids up before 2am and driving two hours to the airport we had an enjoyable short flight from Manchester to Berlin early on the Tuesday morning. Once we had collected our luggage we made our way to the Bed & Beko home which was around a half hours drive from the airport. We were greeted upon arrival and shown around the home which was beautiful town house situated in the outskirts of the city.
The home is owned by a lovely Germany family who have family living in the house next door. They also have live-in cats which both of the kids were besotted with. Once we had got our luggage inside and had a quick look around the doorbell rang and we were given a run through of how to use all of the products as they were all brand new and only installed the previous day. It was really interesting to find out about all of their specific features, which you can read more about each of them here.
Our first day at the Bed & Beko consisted of filming with Beko for their 'Official Partner of the Everyday' campaign which was a lot of fun - yet very tiring as we had been up since 1.30pm. Being a complete novice in filming and speaking on camera I was extremely nervous but was put completely at ease by the lovely ladies at FHF and the guys at Beyond Content. We were all done filming around 9pm and once everyone had gone we un-winded and had an early night as we were all shattered.
The following day we had the morning to ourselves before the guys at Beyond Content returned to do a little more filming. So we took a walk out to try and find a supermarket before heading back and playing out in the garden. The kids loved being able to play outside whilst we were at the Bed & Beko, there was so much for them to do. Amelia especially loved the treehouse and swing which she spent a lot of time playing on over the week. This mean't she got absolutely filthy, but I needn't have worried because with Beko's wash & wear function it mean't that I could throw the kids clothes in the washer dryer and they'd be washed, dried and ready to put back on in just under two hours!
Once we had finished filming for the day we headed back out to find the supermarket which we couldn't find earlier in the morning to pick up some bits to last us for the remaining of our stay. We were able to stock up the fridge with lots of fresh fruit, veg and meat thanks to Beko's EverFresh refrigerator it mean't that they stayed fresh for longer as the EverFresh technology prevents humidity loss in fresh food.
We were also impressed with the size of the fridge/freezer too - perfect for larger families or those with different dietary needs who need more space. We were looking forward to making good use of Beko's split & cook oven later that evening and discussed what meals we would cook during our stay.
Being the fussy eater that she is, Amelia wanted to have pizza which was fine because mum and I made a chicken pasta which mean't we could cook the pizza at the bottom of the oven for the kids and bake the chicken in the top part before mixing in with the pasta on the IndyFlex hob. Amelia loves cooking however we don't really do as much of it as we should back home, so she loved helping at the Bed & Beko home.
We even baked chocolate brownies one evening whilst cooking a chicken pie in the top of the oven and was surprised to notice that the strong smell of the pie didn't contaminate the brownies and vice versa even though they were cooking in the same oven. I am really missing the Split & cook oven since being back home and have really noticed how useful it is especially for busy working families.
The next day we headed into Berlin which I will be talking more about in another post discussing getting around with children however we had a lovely day out even if we did end up walking 10 miles as we couldn't figure out the tram system! When we arrived home the kids played out in the garden again whilst mum and I cooked dinner. This time we cooked hot dogs and chips as we arrived back quite late after a long day out in the city so it was great to be able to use Beko's IndyFlex hob which gives you flexibility with an expandable cooking surface.
After cooking, instead of having to do the dreaded chore of washing up we were able to use Beko's dishwasher and after a big family meal it meant we could fit everything in no problem. This dishwasher uses IonGuard technology and is the world's first chemical-free odour removal dishwasher meaning it doesn't use any chemicals at all to help keep the odours at bay! I found all of the little gadgets very useful too as it meant I could fill it up with lots of places or push down one side and use it for bowls instead.
On our last day we got up early to head out for the day. Our flight wasn't until 10pm that evening which meant that we didn't need to leave the Bed & Beko until 7pm. We put on a wash before we went out so that we wouldn't have to go home with the kids dirty clothes as we knew they would be washed and dry by the time we got back. We decided to go to Legoland Discovery which was a 30 minute taxi ride into the city and had lunch out before coming back in the afternoon so the kids to play out in the garden again before being cooped up on a plane and in the car back home.
And just like that it was time to leave Berlin and head back to North Wales. We had an amazing time staying at the Bed & Beko home and would like to say a huge thank you to Beko for the fantastic opportunity.
As Beko is the 'Official Partner of the Everyday' they understand the needs of the everyday family which we most defintiely can vouch for after putting their appliances to the test. Each of their products are have been thoroughly thought out to meet the needs of every family whether you're looking for an appliance to help with time or whether you're short for space in your kitchen. I'm a huge fan of the 2-in-1 appliances such as the washer-dryer and the split & cook oven as they let you have more spare time to do the things you love and that's what Beko's all about... finding ways to make your everyday life that little bit easier!
We already have a Beko fridge/freezer and washing machine at home but if we need to replace any kitchen appliances I won't buy any other appliances now and if my dishwasher packs in soon, it's going to be a Beko! What I love the most about Beko appliances are that they are simple to use, have quick programmes and they just get the job done which is great for busy parents just like myself.
Here are some more photos of our stay which I thought I'd share.
