New Beginnings | The Ordinary Moments

Tomorrow morning sees Amelia starting back at school in reception class which means we will hopefully get back into a routine after many lazy days over the summer. I'm looking forward to getting a routine back, and being a proper school mum, getting Amelia signed up to some after school clubs, and helping her with her homework. Although I'm not looking forward to the early mornings! The last few weeks Amelia has really pushed my buttons, I'm sure most four year olds are like this towards the end of the holidays after being off from school for seven weeks!

She is missing her friends, so it will definitely do her good being back. I'm sure the longer days will tire her out which is good as she is always so full of energy, but I know I will miss not having her around as often. This just means we'll have to make the most of the weekends and get out of the house and do stuff together as a family. It also means I will get more time to spend with Harry whilst she's at school and I can also work properly from home.

I recently handed in my notice at work. It had been something that I've had on the back of my mind for some time now, although it wasn't something I thought I'd be doing so soon, however after recent circumstances at home I feel that I can no longer work there, I won't go into detail but I don't feel comfortable and couldn't get on with my job properly. I love my job, I love the company and the team I work with (well most of them anyway) but after 13 years of working in hospitality it's time to move on to something new. I have been working self employed along side working part-time at the restaurant since I went back to work after my maternity leave with Amelia, although over the last 8-9 months it really took a backseat and I concentrated more on my main job even though it was only part-time hours, I also did the social media side of things too which I really enjoyed doing.

But the time has come to move on to a new chapter of my life, and I feel that it's the right time and choice to make. I will continue to work from home on my blog and social media positions I currently work on and will hopefully pick up some more freelance work in the long run. I am already in talks with a couple of companies who have asked for me to take on their social media channels which I am really looking forward to doing! I love social media and have done for many years before I started blogging. Even though I only really started to use other networking sites other than Facebook such as Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest since starting my blog nearly 5 years ago I feel that I have a good knowledge and experience of each platform.

So at the end of the month I will be saying goodbye to being an employe and working from home instead. I am really looking forward to it, and I'm feeling a lot more inspired and motivated for the next few months ahead as I have lots of exciting ventures coming up. I am looking to take my blog in a new direction, I have been blogging for nearly five years now and over time my interests and life at home have changed. I will still continue to blog about our lives but now that the kids are older I think it's time to blog about other interests I have too. I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine tomorrow and finally getting some more me time too on the days where I usually work and am kid free which means I can concentrate more on the blog and doing more things for myself again. Being a single mum can be difficult sometimes as you rarely have time to yourself especially if the non resident parent only has the kids one day a week, but I will make it work.
