SIBLINGS | AUGUST

The summer holidays seem to have flown by this year and with just over two weeks to go until Amelia starts back at school I'm hoping to make the most of the days we have together when I'm not working or when the kids are with their dad. The weather has been pretty awful again this month, lets be honest... I don't think we're going to get a summer at all but isn't that what we go abroad for? I have tried to get out as often as we can whether it just be for a short walk in the local forest, around the lake or to the park but I do have a few days out planned before school starts next month starting with a ride on the local steam train tomorrow.

This month both of the kids seem to have grown up a lot. I didn't really notice it as much with Amelia as she has always been bigger then Harry, but now that Harry is much bigger you can really see how much Amelia has shot up over the past few months. Amelia is looking forward to going back to school and seeing all of her friends, in fact I don't think there's been a day gone by where she hasn't asked if she's going back to school yet. Harry is talking so much more and picking up on so much. He'll repeat pretty much everything we say although tends to prefer listening to Amelia when we try and get him to do something. He gets really frustrated when he can't do something or doesn't get his own way although he's no where near as bad as what Amelia was like at that age. He defintiely knows his own mind and tells me when he wants stuff or wants to go to bed.

They're at that stage now where they will argue over toys and get frustrated with each other, but on the whole they get on really well. If Amelia sings, Harry will sing too. If Amelia shouts Mummy, Harry will shout Mummy too. They love to cause havoc and most days I want to pull my hair out as the house is like a bomb site and all I feel like I do all day is clean up after them, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Next month will be strange with Amelia in school 5 days a week all day instead of just two half days but it will also be nice having some time just with Harry. As he's older now it will be nice to take him out places or to soft play and then we can make the most of the weekends when Amelia's off school.
