Create Your Dream Kitchen In 4 Easy Steps

From preparing meals, to eating, to entertaining guests, the kitchen is often thought of as the heart of the home. Since it’s such an important room, why not take the steps to ensure yours is the cooking space you’ve always wanted? To achieve your dream kitchen in four easy steps, keep reading.

1. Choose your worktops

The worktops you choose play a vital role in helping you put together your dream kitchen. The look you’re trying to achieve will heavily influence which work surfaces you go for, so it’s important that you keep your theme in mind to ensure you get the decor just right. For instance, if you’d like to create a farmhouse style cooking area, you’ll want to steer clear of shiny, harsh surfaces and instead go for a softer looking, more traditional style of worktop, such as one made from solid wood. It’s important that you pick a suitable shade too. When you purchase your wooden worktops from Worktop Express or another kitchen design specialist, you will be able to choose from a whole host of colours to make sure that your interior style is spot on.

2. Pick out your cabinets

Although it’s important that you choose strong, sturdy cabinets, it’s also essential that they fit in with your desired kitchen decor. Just like when you’re selecting your worktops, it’s vital that you choose cupboards that will fit perfectly and help create the theme you’re going for. Whether you go for cabinetry with distressed doors and charming handles for a shabby chic finish, or a smooth, flat design with solid, metal handles for a futuristic approach, the cupboards you choose should complement your chosen look.

3. Select your flooring

You’ll next need to select your flooring. So that your chosen theme carries throughout the area, make sure that you go for a style of flooring that will work well with the rest of your decor. For instance, if you’re keen to keep the space looking super chic and minimalist, you could go for a sleek tiled surface, or if you’d like to create a more traditional and homely vibe, you could opt for a wood-effect laminate.

Aside from ensuring your flooring looks the part, it’s also important that you choose a surface that is hardwearing and durable. Ideally you should go for a material that can withstand spills, splashes and general wear and tear.

4. Decide on your appliances

No cooking area is complete without the necessary appliances. So to ensure your new kitchen is fully functional and practical, it pays to give some careful thought as to which devices you need in the room. Aside from the obvious appliances, such as a fridge freezer and oven, are there any other pieces of equipment you’d like to have in this room? If you have the space available, you could incorporate a dishwasher, washing machine and even a tumble dryer into the mix. Since you’re creating the kitchen of your dreams, it’s important that it offers you everything you want.

As long as you plan and prepare accordingly, you should find that your dream kitchen isn’t too far from your reach.

  1. We have to make a choice of a new kitchen soon because we are moving house in 2 months time. I am pretty excited because our current kitchen annoys me sometimes. The worktop is marble so if you don't clean it properly, so you can see the marks.

  2. I cannot wait until we can afford to buy a new kitchen. Our current one annoys me so much and I absolutely hate it!!!! We have this horrendous black sink at the moment and you can never tell if it's properly clean or not. The same can be said for the textured black work tops.
