Choosing Great Fabrics to Update Your Home

Using fabrics to update your home interior is a great way to personalise and add a fresh design feature with comparatively little effort. If you’re a follower of interior design trends, but want to stay current without the expense, a little designer fabric can go a long way. Whether it’s curtains, throws, cushions or wall hanging tapestries you go for, you can do so much with fabrics.

Get a Gorgeous and Snuggly Throw

Wondering how you can update a tired and drab living room with minimal effort? Get a throw. Get rid of that bobbly old sofa blanket you’ve been curling up in every Sunday night for years, and smarten up with a lovely new throw that both looks oh-so-fresh and keeps you cosy for those nights in.

Pick a throw that goes with the rest of your décor if you have any particularly bold colour schemes that will clash with something new. Geometric or psychedelic patterns like mandalas, subtle colours and traditional woven patterns like herringbone are all really on trend at the moment. Online stores like Nest.co.uk are absolutely perfect for finding throws and fabrics like this that are bang on trend, so check it out.

Get Some Cushions

Adding cushions to any seat or soft furnishing throughout your home has an instant design impact can be bought relatively cheaply. Cushions mean maximum design and minimal effort. Opt for non-synthetic fabrics that will last and can be washed easily. Cushion covers are really easy to make yourself and can be cheaper than getting ready-made ones.

Wall Hanging Tapestries

Tapestries aren’t just a thing for medieval banquet halls or festival shisha tents, trust me. Having a wall hanging can add interest to even the smallest spaces. You can find fabric for tapestries almost anywhere, they’re easily washable (unless they’re highly embellished of course), and can make your room feel super cosy and get you rolling in compliments every time someone comes over.

Try hanging a tapestry above your bed – it can act as a headboard of sorts and bring a centrality to the bedroom. If you have high ceilings in your home, hanging a tapestry can help you make use of that otherwise lost space. They can make a room seem bigger and be great additions for parties or special occasions too. Partner a wall hanging with a string of fairy lights or paper lanterns for a magical bohemian feel.

It’s easy to accessorise your home with fresh and exciting patterns using fabrics and they won’t break the bank either. Getting good quality and well-made textiles is the way forward for standing the test of time.
