Our Bedtime Routine With Johnson's

We are taking part in The JOHNSON’S ® 3-step Sleep Routine Challenge where we were challenged by JOHNSON'S to try out their 3 step sleep routine which involved using their products in the run up to bedtime. As I previously mentioned we've never really had a routine as such and just followed Harry's signs whether he was tired or not. We have now been following the 3-step sleep routine for the past couple of weeks and today I am going to be sharing with you how we got on.

Prior to starting the 3 step routine Harry would have a bath around 6 and be in bed between 7 and 7.30pm. We didn't read a book, he would just have his milk and I'd put him down in his cot. He's always been good at falling asleep with no fuss but 3/4 night of the week he will wake up around an hour later, and if he hadn't then he would often wake up at 11pm so I'd give him another bottle. He will then sleep all the way through until around 7.30am or when ever I wake him.

Step one - Bath

The first night of trying out JOHNSON's 3-step clinically proven routine we used the bedtime bath in the bath, I have always used Johnson's products in the past and love them. The JOHNSON'S® 3-step routine can help your baby fall asleep faster and stay asleep for longer so I was definitely eager to try it out and see if we saw any improvement. I then use the baby wash and rub it all over his body and rinse it off. I tend to let the kids play in the bath for a bit after I've washed their hair whilst I clean the bathroom as it seems to be the only time I can get it done!

Step two - Massage

After his bath I would then put on the lotion which smells amazing might I add and give him a massage but he tries and wriggles off. He's not a fan of lying still for longer than 5 seconds at the moment so this can be tricky! I never used to give him massages but JOHNSON'S say that a soothing massage can help make baby relaxed and comfortable at bedtime, so I'm happy to try anything. I then
get him dressed and ready for bed. We did try the baby oil but we've never got with using oils.

Step three - Quiet time

The next step is new for us, as we never read books to him before bed as I would always put him down before his big sister and then go and read her a story. I have now included this as part of our bedtime routine and I will read both of the kids some books together on my bed before putting them both to bed. JOHNSON'S sent us the "Good Night Sarah" book which we love snuggling up together and reading whilst having quiet time. I then put Harry down to bed and take Amelia through to her bed.

Results

I have really enjoyed implementing a bedtime routine into our evenings and so far it's been going really well. Harry no longer wakes up once I put him down for the night and will sleep right through until the morning which is amazing as I can relax in the evenings and he doesn't wake Amelia us with his crying. I truly do think it's down to following JOHNSON'S 3-step routine and using the Johnson's bedtime baby bath which includes a relaxing aroma. Thank you JOHNSON'S!

  1. So cute... we love a good bed time routine in our house and it really has made it easier having both the toddlers know what happens when and what is expected in terms of going to sleep right from bathtime which is lovely. Wish we could use johnsons but it flares up B's sensitive skin and eczema. I have always loved it myself though the smell is amazing.

  2. I'd love if giving my baby a massage helped to relax him for bed, but as you said, he always wriggles off after a few seconds - haha! x
