Breakfast vs No Breakfast

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, why? Because it provides you with the energy and nutrients that increase you concentration throughout the day, maintains a healthy body weight and stops you from getting hungry mid morning and snacking on foods which are bad for you. I've never been a big breakfast eater, I probably only have it once or twice a year when on holiday or when I'm trying to be healthy so probably fit into the one in ten who never eat it however I do want my kids to have a healthy lifestyle and not get into any bad habits.

One of the main reasons why I don't eat it, is because I don't have time in the mornings. I know I could get up earlier but I'd rather have an extra 15 minutes in bed. I could eat it in the morning whilst the kids eat theirs but I am rushing around getting Amelia's lunch ready and then I go and get dressed myself so there really isn't any time before we leave the house.

If you're like myself and don't eat breakfast or would like some ideas here are 30 easy breakfast ideas to get you going in the morning. When I do rarely eat breakfast some of my favourite breakfasts to have are smoked salmon on toast, scrambled egg on toast, bagels or pancakes. Amelia loves having her cereal everyday and sometimes toast or a banana.

I found this infographic below really interesting and it's made me realise that I should make more of an effort to eat breakfast. If I don't have time in the mornings I either need to get up earlier or I could make sure I have breakfast when I get back from dropping Amelia off at school.

  1. I'm with you Kerry - I never have breakfast either. I just have a skinny latte when I get up then another coffee mid-morning and don't eat anything until lunchtime. I am never hungry until then and actually have most energy in the mornings when I am rushing about to school, shops, out with dog etc. I think everyone is different and you and me are most probly one of the minority who can just get up and go!

  4. I'm terrible at eating breakfast during the week. I sometimes manage to grab a piece of fruit on my way out but more often than not the first meal of my day is lunch. I know I should try harder but I'd really rather be sleeping.

  5. I never used to have breakfast but now I have to. I cant start the day without it really. But I do tend to do the school run first and then come home to have my breakfast which is usually porridge oats with fruit or Weetabix and fruit. I feel really ill if I don't have my breakfast and cant focus. x

  6. I always have breakfast I find if I don't that I end up snacking on junk all day. My favourite breakfast has to be porridge as u can do so many different things with it such as make pancakes and also overnight oats which I love.

  9. I'm the same, I find breakfast sickening - usually because its so soon after getting up. I've found a smoothie with oats is just right for me as it doesn't feel like I'm eating but getting some energy xx

  10. I was ALWAYS a solid breakfast eater, I wouldn't be able to get through the day without my weetabix, honey, and milk. Now I struggle to remember to even make myself a glass of water since becoming a mum x
