MY BLOGGING SPACE

Home office, blogging space, office

I'm finally getting round to sharing my new blogging space! It's been somewhat finished for a good few weeks now however I've been cracking on with decorating the rest of the house as I wanted to get it all completed. For the longest time I'd dreamt of having an iMac sitting on a white desk however needed a laptop as it would be more practical at the time and decided to buy a Macbook a few years ago instead. With my Macbook running ever so slow recently, I decided to take the plunge and buy an iMac in hope that it would allow me to become more productive.

The only thing that was stopping me was the fact that I had no where to put it as I turned my previous office into a nursery for Harry. I was indecisive as to where to put a desk initially and couldn't decide between the living room and my bedroom, however finally decided it would probably be safer in the bedroom away from the kids!

I had plenty of ideas on how I would create my own blogging space, however the majority of them were with a large desk and a in a separate room which I no longer had. I had to re-think my options and decided to create a little workspace in the corner of the bedroom. I found a small desk from Ikea which was the perfect size and decided to buy an Eames chair which would go perfectly with the decor I had in mind. I wanted to keep the space as light and airy as possible and decided to paint the room white and re-decorate the bedroom at the same time.

Once I had my desk, chair and iMac it looked very bare and didn't have any character to it at all! I had a few ideas in mind of what I wanted to add to the walls with a pegboard, an Ikea picture ledge to add lots of frames and plants but had to re-think as I couldn't put a shelf directly above the iMac as there is a socket below. In the end I decided to download and print a few quotes and popped them into frames. I also have my daily blogging checklist on the wall alongside a calendar for this month.

I still have a few more bits that I would like to change around or add but for now I am happy with it and I am definitely feeling far more productive than I was blogging from the sofa or my bed! Here are a few photos, although you've probably already seen my blogging space over on Instagram

How are you adapting to your iMac? I'm tempting to get one as well, but I'm so used to my MacBook!

    1. Thank you Anna! I must admit, it did take me a little while to get used to especially as the keyboard is smaller than that of the Macbook so when I switch between the two my fingers are all over the place haha but I love it! Great for editing photos! x

  2. This looks so perfect, I love it! It looks so fresh and bright. The blog checklist is such a good idea, I really need to start pre-planning posts because I usually just launch into posts there and then. This has definitely inspired me to become a more organised blogger! Also, Ikea is an absolute godsend, I have to be dragged out of there kicking and screaming! Lovely blog :) x

    1. Thank you Claire. I still do that sometimes too, and write posts on the day they go live but I do like to be organised and have a few scheduled. Haha! i've never actually been to the shop itself as the nearest is about two hours away and I definitely wouldn't fit everything I wanted in the car. x

  3. Oh, my God, I've been planning to do this for longer than I'd like to admit. My bed, my living room and coffee places are my blogging/writing space. And this looks so fantastic, that I just might get on with mine as soon as i get some sleep!

  7. Id love to have a blogging space like this. We just don't have enough room really, well we would if every inch of space wasn't take up with kids storage! This area looks so light and fresh and a great space to sit and work. I think Doug would go mad if I made a space like this as he would never see me. x

Your whole house looks amazing right now and I'm really loving watching your makeover - it's making me want to do the same but sadly I'm stuck with magnolia walls as we're not allowed to decorate! xx

  20. Love this so much. The photos are gorgeous as always. I am very jealous of this work space. I still haven't progressed from sitting on the sofa with the laptop yet, but hopefully some time soon x

  21. Jealous. Jealous. So Jealous. Sickened with jealousy. I love this!!! you should be fetaured in blogger's interiors monthly. I am currently sitting on a stinky (by baby) sofa, surrounded by toys, with a cranked neck because of my forced posture. did I say I was jealous??

  22. This looks fab! And so tidy, I wish my desk was tidier - I think it would make more organised

  28. It looks like a really simple and relaxing place to work. I'm bad, I blog on my lap on a comfy chair in the living room. After sitting on a chair at a desk all day, that's what I need.

  29. This is just perfect!! I`m working on my own blogging space too and have the same dilemma, I so want it in my bedroom but we dont have a connection point up there for the internet and my bloody computer must be the last one in existence not wireless enabled! Lol!!
I love the framed quotes especially, and that deco tape! xx

  32. Aww Kerry, this is just gorgeous! I've just got Nathan to agree to doing up our living room and I want to use the corner for my blogging space. All I need to do now is persuade him to put the TV on the wall (which shouldn't be too hard as Oscar keeps touching it lol) and the job will be a good 'un, as they say :)

  47. I wish I was as organised as you. I don't have a blogging space although I normally blog in bed or on my sofa as I watch TV or listen to music. I'm going Ikea sometime next month and I'll be buying a desk so I have my own little space

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ahm, I am a little bit jealous now and that doesn't happen very often. I still don't have a proper blogging space since moved into my new home and it's one of those things I really need to sort out. I still don't have a desk, but I am very hard to please when it comes to furniture and I just haven't found the right desk yet.

  49. It's gorgeous. I love the frames with the quotes in :) xx

  55. Looks absolutely lovely! I'm hoping to make a blogging space just like this in my spare room, but it means losing a wardrobe so I'm dithering. But when I do I will take inspiration from you!

  56. What an absolutely stunning, stylish and very tranquil looking space in your home! I wish my home would look as organised, clutter-free and elegant! I would love my own space, whilst at the moment I tend to balance my laptop on the arm of the sofa in amongst all the cluitter!
