A LITTLE HOME UPDATE

If you happen to follow me on Instagram you may have noticed a few more home decor posts than usual. I recently decided to have a little makeover and re-do all of our bedrooms as I needed something to do and I often get bored of decor after a while. I haven't really done much to my bedroom at all since we moved in nearly three years ago and I got sick of the cream walls so decided to change things around a little and move the furniture around, add a fresh splash of paint to the walls and also create a little blogging space for myself in the corner. I've wanted a new desk for a while now, and as I had to get rid of my 'office' in the spare bedroom before Harry came along to make him a nursery I have been left feeling uninspired and unmotivated! By creating this blogging space, I hope to become more productive and get back into blogging again.

I've also made a start on the kids rooms, and decided on a batman/superhero monochrome room for Harry as I got bored of his star neutral nursery theme and I've painted Amelia's room white and bought a whole bunch of accessories and decor for both of their rooms. I'm trying to make Amelia's room a little more grown up so it can grow with her as it was still quite babyish with lots of pink and baby toys. I can't wait to show you them both when it's all finished.

So here's a few snippets of what I've done so far this week. It's no where near finished by all means but I like what I've managed to do so far with what little time I've had whilst looking after two little ones! I will share individual posts of each room once they're all completed.

I love how much brighter the main bedroom is now that it's been painted. The walls do look cream in these photos but it's just from the sun shining through. I haven't really done much else to my room yet apart from buy some new bedding, cushions and a throw however I do have a few ideas for the wall above the bed.

I set up my new desk and iMac a couple of days ago and am really pleased with how it all looks. The desk is much smaller than my previous one but I just needed something small that would fit in the corner of the room as I didn't have much space. I need to do something with with the wall space and have ordered a few prints and accessories which I'll show you all soon.

There's not a lot to do in Harry's room except from change all of his accessories and decor. The furniture is staying but I did switch the baskets to these black ones instead. I've bought a lot of little bits and bobs recently which will go around his room once everything has arrived. I'm thinking of getting rid of the rocking chair as I don't use it and put in another ikea cubed unit next to this one and then just have a little Eames chair in the corner. I want to make his room more boyish and easier to transition when he's a toddler so thought I'd make a start on it now. I'll be putting up a couple more shelves for his books and accessories and I also have some wall stickers too which I can't wait to put up! I just can't decide where!

So that's how everything is looking so far. I'll share each room as it's completed over the next couple of weeks.

What do you think of the changes?

  10. I really like the black and white look. I'm worried the white will get grubby tho?! Do you not suffer with grubby walls with kids?
