5 EASY WAYS TO SUPPORT FELLOW BLOGGERS

5 Easy Ways To Support Fellow Bloggers

When I first started blogging back in 2012, the only people who read my blog where my Mum and Nan and I was okay with that, the reason I started blogging was to document my journey through motherhood and our daily lives to look back on. I had no idea about reviews, sponsored posts, blogging tribes, or even Twitter at this time. As I slowly got connected with the blogging community this all came naturally, I signed up to social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook, I started pinning my posts to Pinterest and joining in with linkies and finally found my tribe. Over time, my blog has grown and that is purely down to promotion, sharing and perhaps providing useful content?

You may be wondering why should I support other bloggers? The way I look at it is the more you support fellow bloggers the more likely you're going to get support in return which is beneficial for everyone. Supporting other bloggers not only creates a valuable support network but it can also allow you to make some incredible friends. This post from Aby has some great tips on how to build an awesome community for your blog.

Here are some of my tips on how I like to support fellow bloggers and how you can too:

1. Communicate

You most likely will already have a Facebook or Twitter account and follow numerous blogs, so the easiest way to connect with other bloggers is to communicate! Send them a tweet, answer their questions, like their photos on Instagram. Joining Facebook groups specifically for blogging is a great way to communicate, there are hundred's of different groups out there so you're sure to find some suitable for you. I'll be sharing my favourites on the blog soon.

2. Comment

This is probably one of the most obvious ways to support other bloggers and make someones day. Commenting on other's content whether that be a blog post, Facebook posts, or an Instagram photo. This shows that you are interested in what they are writing about and enjoying what they are doing. You may not have time to comment on a blog post, so even a quick tweet to tell them how much your liked their recent post will go a long way.

3. Share

Sharing is reciprocal. I try my best to share at least 5 other's blog posts daily via Twitter as mentioned in my Daily blogging checklist, of course some days this can be less or more. I believe that sharing others posts is kind and I am always grateful for some 'blogging love' myself. Some will reciprocate and share one of my latest posts, some never say a word which is fine because I'm not doing it for praise, I just like to share. It may not necessarily be a post by a blogger which shared one of my posts but the point is sharing is reciprocal. As the saying goes "If you want to be helped, help others".

There are various other ways that you can share the love:
  1. RT their posts on twitter or share on Facebook
  2. A weekly round up of favourite posts you've read that week
  3. Share a list of your favourite bloggers in a blog roll on your blog
  4. #FF on Twitter every Friday
  5. Add their button in your sidebar
  6. Sharing bloggers eBooks or shops
4. Recommend

Recommending your favourite blogs in a round up post is also a great way to support your fellow bloggers especially those who you read regularly, not only does it send traffic to their blog but it will also help with link building.

5. Click on links

This is rather controversial however, I like to help others out and if I happen to come across an ad that catches my eyes on their blog or it's pointing to a site where I'm likely to purchase something from then I will click on it. Same goes for affiliate links such as Amazon, if a fellow blogger was recommending a tripod for the camera for example, then I would click through and purchase from their link. I know not everyone likes to do this but I'd rather help out a blogger than some random person off the internet, plus it doesn't cost me anything.

So those are my tips on how I like to support fellow bloggers. Don't forget that it's up to you how you choose to be supportive of others, but don't be discouraged if you don't get a RT back from another blogger or a reply straight away as they may be really busy.

Do you do this regularly or is this something you'd like to do more often? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Remember sharing is important to spread positivity and kindness.

  17. I love sharing good content on twitter. I think sometimes we all get carried away with the RT button and don't do enough of making it an original tweet to share stuff so I try to balance that. Re-pinning others content is also a great way to support my bloggy frineds. I've been a pinning fool lately haha!

  42. Great post, I really need to find more time to RT more posts. I am off to read your checklist now!

  43. Thanks for writing this. You've actually given me a few more ideas of how I can help others in the blogger community. I definitely need to have a section on my blog where I recommend and have my favourite blogs for others to look at. I know a few other bloggers that do like a weekly post that mentions the blogs they've enjoyed that week, and I've then been able to go from there to find more brilliant bloggers.

I'd also never though about actually clicking on links on other blogs, I think I'm going to start to do that more, it makes a lot of sense.

Love the look of your blog too.
