MOTHERHOOD: THE FIRST 1000 DAYS

The first 1,000 days of having a child is life changing for any new mother or father. Becoming a mother for the first time can be very daunting, not knowing what's around the corner, wondering how you'll be able to look after something so fragile and who depends entirely on you. The first 1,000 days for myself since I found out I was pregnant with Amelia were some of the best moments of my life. The first few weeks and months are a complete blur but they were truly amazing and I'd do it all again in a flash. The first 1000 days of my pregnancy with Amelia and since she was born flew by, which is why I'm trying to take in every moment possible with Harrison as I can as it won't be long until he's going to nursery just like Amelia.

With the support of Pampers, NCT have conducted a survey to find out about the first 1,000 days of motherhood starting from pregnancy up until the child's second birthday and they followed over a thousands parents to record their insights into these early days with their kiddos. The research showed the ups and downs of the early days of parenthood and the importance of both parents being able to find support if needed. A key finding from the research revealed that the majority of parents experienced a better nights sleep during the second year. For 30% of parents sleep problems persisted throughout the first 1,000 days usually down to teething.

Amelia at 18 months

Every first between a parent and their baby is special and there's nothing more rewarding that experiencing each and every one together. Pampers have created this beautiful video below of a journey of firsts. Even though Harrison is only just five 5 months old tomorrow it still feels like yesterday that he was born. I remember the moment he was born so vividly as I do his big sisters. You don't just forget it, it's such a special moment, along with every first moment from the first time they smile, the first time they crawl, walk, talk and so on.

I dare you to watch the video without getting teary...

For more information on the study and its findings, you can visit Pampers or the NCT.

What do you have to say about the first 1000 days?
