DIY BABY SHOWER GIFT | BABY BOUQUETS

I have a lot of friends who are currently expecting and I've found it hard to come up with different ideas for gifts for each mum and baby. One of my best friends is due really soon with a baby boy, and I just couldn't decide on what to buy her especially as she has two little boys already so will most likely have everything covered when it comes to clothes and toys. However I thought a baby bouquet would be something slightly different and a little more personal as it shows that you've gone to a little more effort than just picking something up when at the shops.

Today I'm going to be showing you how to make your own bouquet which will hopefully end up looking better than my attempt but hey its the thought that counts isn't it?

To begin you will need:

Newborn clothes
Barbecue sticks or something similar
Green florist tape
Large sheets of tissue paper
Elastic bands
Artificial flowers/leaves
Ribbon

Step 1 - To begin you will need around 10-20 items of baby clothes. Including hats, socks, sleepsuits, bibs. It's a good idea to include a range of different items and you can also make it colourful or keep to a specific colour for gender if you wish. M&S have a gorgeous newborn starter set available in many different colours which is perfect for this. Check out the M&S Baby page here.

Step 2 - Start by folding all of the items of clothing in half onto themselves to create a narrow strip of material to work with.

Step 3 - Next you will want to roll the item of clothing around a 'stem'. I used barbecue sticks however you ca use lolly sticks or flower sticks. Roll the material around the top of the stick to create a flower shape.

Step 4 - Now you need to secure the stem. You can do this by using an elastic band and wrapping it around the fabric about half-way down to secure the flower in place. I found the smaller bands to work better.

Step 5 - Use green florist tape to secure the base of each flower starting at the elastic band and winding the tap around to the bottom of the fabric and onto the stem. Next add some foilage or little flowers to make the flowers look more realistic. You simply pop these under the elastic band to stay in place.

Step 6 - Repeat every stage for the other items of clothing until you have enough to make a bunch of flowers. Gather the stems together and wrap it all together with tissue paper and tie with ribbon to hold it in place. You could even put them in a vase.

... and there you have it! You're very own baby bouquet perfect for any baby shower or gift for new mum and baby.

What do you think? Not too bad for my first attempt huh?
