BRITMUMS LIVE 2015 | THE THIRD YEAR

Harry and I have just about recovered from a fantastic couple of days in London for the BritMums Live blogging event. This was my third year attending and I was still as nervous about going as I was the first year. I had originally decided not to go as I didn't think I would manage taking Harry down on my own but quickly changed my mind two weeks before hand when everyone was selling their tickets before the deadline so I thought why not just go out of my comfort zone and do it! So I managed to snap up an early bird ticket which was very handy, booked our room and train tickets and then looked forward to our two day trip to London.

Harry and I travelled down by train to London on the Friday and we took the baby carrier and Doona for ease of transport around London and getting in and out of taxis from the train station. He was good as gold on the train and slept in my arms for half of the journey and then sat quietly on my lap for the rest. As we were in the quiet coach of the train I was worried about him making a noise but when we left other passengers commented on how well behaved he was and that they didn't even know he was there!

Once checked into our lovely room at the Montcalm hotel we walked to meet Charlotte who I had arranged to meet beforehand and popped to buy a new SD card as I had stupidly forgotten to get mine out of the card slot that morning! Doh! On our way down I bumped into the lovely Fiona from Dolly Dowsie briefly who was on the way to the Brewery with her partner. It was so nice to speak to her even know it wasn't for long. I wish I had seen her again over the two days as it would have been lovely to have a proper chat.

We then headed to registration which was nice and quick this year as we arrived after 2pm and everyone had already gone in. Once we had our name badges we made our way to the hub where all of the brands were located and everyone was chatting away. The welcome speech was starting at 3pm so we then travelled over to the main hall and found a table. Harry was really well behaved and sat on my lap and was also passed around a bit too as many others were happy to take him off my hands when he got bored of me which was nice.

For the rest of the afternoon we hung out in the hub and spoke with some brands and chatted to some people. The BiBs Award ceremony was also on the Friday evening and I was up for an award in best photo category so thought we'd stay before heading off for dinner to Pizza Express where we met up with Ami from Beebies Baby Store who had organised a little get together for some of her 'We Love Beebies' Ambassadors and friends. Ami is so so sweet, and such an inspirational young woman! It was also lovely to meet Hannah who's blog I also regularly read and we all had a good old natter!

I got to spend a lot of time with Alex and Tanita who are both such genuine lovely ladies! I have spoken to both of them online before and also follow their blogs and social media accounts so it was nice to meet them both personally. It's so weird how you put yourself out there by blogging and you kind of feel like you already know a person just from reading their blog.

On the Saturday once Harry had finally woken up, we went to check out at 10 and left our bag in the luggage area. On my way in I bumped into two bloggers Angela and Vicki who's blogs I both read regularly so it was nice to speak to them both in the flesh. They are both so lovely! Jodie had planned a photo opportunity for the mums who had brought along their babies so we all met up outside the Brewery. A group of us turned up which was nice and it was lovely to meet everyone and the babies too! We decided not to go to any of the sessions and just hung out in the hub again before going off for lunch to Wagamamas with Alex, Charlotte and Tanita which was a laugh. It was really nice to chat with them all and we all had a lot of the same opinions on things too which we could all easily relate too.

Three of us all happened to have our Doona's with us so we thought it would be nice to take a photo of them all together.
Had a lovely chat with the gorgeous Vicki from Honest Mum just before I left. She's so lovely and down to earth!
I met so many lovely and inspiring bloggers, many who I have spoken to online and read their blogs regularly and many new bloggers who I had never come across before which was nice. I'm glad I plucked up the courage to go up to a few bloggers too as the first year I definitely wouldn't have done that! I just wish I had to chance to meet a few more people too - there just never seems to be enough time.

I think BritMums should have the keynotes on the Friday night before the BiBs as most people went home early on the Saturday myself included as there wasn't much left to do really. I also felt this year that the brands weren't as great as previous years and I really missed the Morrisons and Heinz lounges they had as it was some where else to go and chill out between sessions. I did notice that it wasn't as busy this year and from what I gather the sessions were that interesting or people left feeling like they hadn't learnt much which is why I never went to them from previous experience.

I didn't learn anything new blogging wise but that's not why I went. I went to BritMums to socialise and meet new people and brands, I met lots of lovely people- too many to name here, had some great food and left feeling inspired by all the bloggers I had been speaking to and glad to have met some new friends. Thank you everyone who made the two days enjoyable!

If you're thinking of going for your first time next year I would highly recommend getting in touch with a blogging friend or a group of you who you speak to regularly are all going and arrange to meet before hand. You will feel much more at ease. I'll be sharing a post soon for those thinking of attending next year to share some tips and also another one for those going with a baby in the future for blogging events.

Will I go again? Yes! and I'll be grabbing an early bird ticket when they go on sale this time. Although I won't go to any of the sessions unless they include some better ones next year I will most definitely go to have a couple of days away with likeminded people!

Did you attend BritMums this year? What did you think of event?

  2. I completely agree about britmums. I went last year and thought the very same it's a great experience and loved it but didn't learn much from sessions and I bet it was quiet as a lot of people myself included couldn't do blogtacular and britmums back to back but I am definitely going next year. So glad you and Harry had such a great time together.

  11. I was so sad that I didn't get to attend this year. Last year I went with my farther who was six month at the time. It wasn't too bad but it took a lot. We hung out in the Heinz lounge which was really lovely. Surprised to hear it wasn't around this year. These conferences are often great for networkiNg and if I'd gone I would have done the same as you and just hung out with people.

  14. Oh Kerry feel honoured to be in your post, it was so, so good meeting you (you're beautiful and lovely) and Harrison is so gorgeous I am now officially broody! I loved this year but it went by too quickly, I actually was the last person to leave (Jen drove out) and I and a few others were in the courtyard! Next time I hope we get lots more time together, I'd love to use that pic of us in my own post (and I'll credit you of course) if that's OK x
