Hi, I am so excited that Kerry is letting me write a guest post on her fab blog. I love all the parenting blogs that are out there at the moment and wish there had been more about when my children were babies. I am a massive believer in Mums supporting Mums and the world of blogging sees to be the perfect place to do this. Plus, I do so love following all the babies as they grow on Instagram (I mean come on, how cute IS Harrison?).
Ok, so you are probably wondering who I am. I'm Gemma, the owner, designer, machinist and general dogsbody of Keepsakes From My Sewing Room. I create Keepsakes from your babies / children's clothes.
Yes, that's right, from those oh so cute outfits that hold so many treasured memories yet sit boxed up in your loft. I consider myself very lucky in that I get to call doing something I love my job and as such I enjoy putting as much details and character into each Keepsake as possible.
I am a Mum of three lively, strong willed and incredibly fun children. Isaac has just turned 9, Lennox is 6 and Dotty is 3. I'm shocked just writing that, and I know this makes me sound about 103 but where does the time go? They were babies last time I looked and now my eldest is nine and up to my shoulder in height! Luckily he still loves a cuddle with his Mum, when his friends aren't watching!
I initially started making Keepsakes from my own children's clothes as I found the memories in so many outfits meant they were just too hard to part with. Steve, my long suffering partner, declared that something had to be done as he feared our loft was going to give way with the sheer weight of clothes I was hoarding up there. Clearly he had no idea what he was starting, as now our house is also full of other people's baby clothes.
When I reluctantly agreed to sort through them I found each piece reminded me of such specific times when that I struggled to part with ANY, and so the first idea of a Keepsake was born. I had such fun making those first Keepsakes of my children's clothes that I then moved on to making them for friends and family. I found that I not only enjoyed making the Keepsakes but also loved the joy it brought to the other mums and from there the idea of Keepsakes From My Sewing Room was born. I can hand on heart say it was one of the best decisions I ever made, I love every aspect of it, even the late night sewing. Actually, especially the late night sewing, there's something quite magical about a house where everyone is asleep and I'm sewing away with my heater and baby clothes for company. I am so proud of how Keepsakes From My Sewing Room has grown and continues to grow.
The good news is that I am running a Giveaway, the prize is a Keepsake of your choice, embroidery of your choice plus free P&P and I'd love as many Oh So Amelia readers as possible to enter.
