{THE ORDINARY MOMENTS 15} #11 AN AFTERNOON WITH AMELIA

Since Harrison was born Amelia and I haven't been out together like we would before he came along. Whilst pregnant I aimed to get out at least once a week and to do as much as possible with Amelia as I knew it would be a big change for her when he came along and we may not have been able to go out much for the first couple of weeks.

This week I took Amelia out for a couple of hours in the afternoon, mainly because I wanted to get out of the house and it was such a lovely day. I don't really get the chance to get out much during the week as we only have the one car at the moment and come Andy's days off we usually do stuff as a family so he can spend time with the kids. But this week on Andy's day off I decided that Amelia and I would go out and let Andy have some time with Harrison. She was really excited to go out and as soon as I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk she went and got her shoes, coat and hat and put them all on and excitedly ran to the door.

We weren't out for very long as we needed to get back for daddy to go to a work meeting but it was just nice being out for the time that we were and to spend time together as we don't do that anymore. We only drove 10 minutes down the road to a local village which has a nice walk through the forest and down to the water front. Amelia loved running about and we played hide and seek, said our ABC's whilst walking and pointed out objects and animals.

I'm going to try and do this at least once every two weeks and make it something we do regularly together, just the two of us. Whether it be a walk in the woods, afternoon at the cinema, trip to the park or lunch out, as long as we do something together. I hope that she will look back and remember all of the days out we have together.

I really need a day like this with Mia in the Easter holidays. I haven't had a day just me and her in probably way over a year or more.

  6. Awww this is just so lovely and that top photo of the two of you is just gorgeous. I think it's so important to get one on one time with your children, this has inspired me to do it again with Mads. I get time with LL one morning a week while Mads is at nursery, but I need to do it with Mads too. These are definitely the type of things they will remember and treasure when they are older. x

  7. I love your new blog design, looks brill. Beautiful pictures, I love the scenery. So pretty. So important to get out with the the older sibling one on one when the new little one arrives. Although it is sometimes hard to find the time, but so worth it when you can. x

  10. Just look how happy she is. It sounds like you had a lovely time. My husband and I really need to make sure we get more quality time with Harry separately. We can be good at family time all together but one to one time not so much.

  11. Oh bless her, she looks absolutely thrilled! Not finding enough one-on-one time with M would be my biggest worry (okay well perhaps after never getting any sleep) about having another baby. How great that you found time to have this lovely walk with Amelia.
