HOW DID YOU ANNOUNCE YOUR PREGNANCY?

There's nothing like a bit of baby news to brighten up your day. Especially a pregnancy announcement and there are so many creative ways to announce an impending arrival. When I was pregnant with Amelia I announced my pregnancy with friends and family via Facebook with a scan photo from my 18 week scan, it was nothing special or very thought out - just the scan photo and a sentence mentioning that we were expecting our first baby.

This time round when I found out we were expecting I really wanted to document my pregnancy with Harrison on the blog so I could look back on it when ever I wished as I hadn't really documented it with Amelia due to only starting this blog a couple of days before her due date. I announced our exciting news with the above photo of Amelia sharing that she was soon going to become a big sister! I really wanted to include Amelia in the announcement in some way and I'm glad she co-operated!

We then also shared our gender announcement a couple of weeks later when we found out we were in fact having a baby boy! I love the fact that I have my whole pregnancy to look back on from our announcement to Harrison's birth story so I can watch my bump grow each week. I do love a good pregnancy announcement, and have seen some fantastic ones recently including this sweet announcement from Little Baby Garvin on the news of her third baby. I think it's become the norm to share pregnancy news via social media nowadays especially as everyone's using it as a way to communicate and stay updated with friends and family.

Once you've announced your pregnancy to the world and received masses of "congratulations" messages you will most probably want to start shopping for that little baby growing inside your belly. I love shopping for newborn clothes, there's just something so exciting about teeny weeny baby grows and hats. I've always loved shopping online especially for the convenience and most recently found out that M&S have a new dedicated baby section on their website aimed for newborns up to 24 months. It's easy to navigate around and is built around seven key moments; Welcome, Clothe, Bathe, Sleep, Feed, Play and Maternity. I have always loved M&S for baby clothes and now find myself browsing the new categories at nursery accessories and baby products for Harrison.

How did you announce your pregnancy? Or did you decide not to share via social media?

  2. I think everyone's experience is very different and I am wholeheartedly envious of people excited by their pregnancies and using social media to share their news.

We'd had 2 miscarriages before having Wonderboy and in all honesty, even that pregnancy didn't look great at the beginning either. As a result we eventually told some of the people closest to us after 15 weeks (I was literally scanned every fortnight til 20 weeks) and didn't mention it on social media. We were scared history would repeat itself and found it difficult to embrace the excitement. I do absolutely enjoy seeing other people's announcements now (not so much in the midst of fertility issues mind you!) and I loved the photo of Amelia with her Big Sister sign - too cute x

    1. Hi Lorna, I agree everyones experience is different. I was exactly the same after our miscarriage I would be envious when ever I saw a friend or fellow blogger announce a pregnancy although I was happy for them I was also jealous and sad that it wasn't us.

Sorry to hear about your losses. xx

  4. We took a photograph of our wedding shoes (as we got married last summer) and next to them there was a pair of little baby booties. I attached the photograph to a picture holder saying 'A picture from your Grandchild' and gave it to my Dad - he was shocked to say the least! I announced it on social media/blog through a picture of my big bump :) Now I only have 8 weeks left to go, I can't believe it!

  5. We did very similar images to you the second time that we used on Facebook. I only started blogging properly when Little Man was 3 months old so hadn't even thought to do a proper blog announcement x

  6. Hubby is not a big fan of announcing things like that on the social media. So I didn't announce it.
I only announced it to friends family and work colleagues by Matthew wearing a t-shirt saying I'm going to be a big brother.

  8. I didn't start my blog until my daughter was a month old so didn't document pregnancy or announcements which I do regret. Will definitely do it for the next one though! :)

  9. Oh I absolutely love this. What a beautiful post. I wish so badly that I was blogging when I was pregnant with both of mine. I feel like I missed out on documenting them from such an early stage. Would have been so fun. I loved reading about yours. So sweet to look back at it all too. Gorgeous post.

  10. We announced with our scan pic after the 14 week scan but I'm hoping to do something a little more creative next time round, with the help of the older sibling! x
