As we start the New Year, many people begin to think about making New Year resolutions and goals for the upcoming year. One of my resolutions for 2015 is to get back into shape within 6 months of giving birth. As I am due to give birth in January I think this is pretty realistic, and seeing as I won't have time to hit the gym I will be getting active at home!
One way of achieving this goal is to use my cross-trainer and also some workout DVDs, as well as maintaing a healthy diet. I've only put on a stone during this pregnancy so far so I won't have much weight to loose, the main aim is to get rid of my mummy tummy and get fit for the summer.
I will be using my FitBit to help me keep track of my lifestyle to see how I can improve and maintain it along the way. Hopefully seeing some progress. The idea of the FitBit is to wear it for 24 hours a day and it monitors how many steps you've taken, how many calories you've burned that day and your sleep patterns. It then syncs with your phone or computer via an app so you can keep track of daily figures to see your progress and what you may need to improve on and motivate you. My sleep pattern at the moment is all over the place so it will be interesting to see how it differs when I'll be having even more sleepless nights!
Here are some of the ways I'm hoping to achieve my goals:
- Cut down on fizzy drinks
- Eat breakfast
- Drink more water
- Use the cross-trainer at least 3 times a week
- Daily sit ups and squats (after 6 weeks postpartum)
- Eat healthier and cut back on takeouts
- Go for regular walks with the kids
- Go to bed at a reasonable time (not 2am)
Now all I need is for baby boy to make an appearance so I can get started with my New Years resolution.
