CHRISTMAS EVE 2014

We've had a great Christmas Eve this year! Usually we are both working so it's nice that it fell into Andy's usual days off and seeing as I'm off on maternity leave we've been able to spend it together as a family. We got up rather early in the morning as we had some of Andy's family coming round so we could all exchange gifts ready for the next day as we wouldn't see them on Christmas day. Amelia kept on saying "Ho Ho Ho" and wanted to open all the presents but she did eventually understand she had to wait until Santa had been once she goes to sleep.

I also gave Amelia her Christmas Eve basket this morning even though we wouldn't be in for the most part of the day I still wanted her to have it on Christmas Eve. The pyjamas she wore for bedtime, and we also read the books before bed. Everything else can be used over the next few days. She was much more interested in everything this year and I think she had more of an understanding which was good. I'm looking forward to continuing the tradition with both of the children every year.

I had been meaning to buy a gingerbread house for weeks now and then when I finally went to buy one I everywhere I tried was out of stock! Luckily Amelia's Auntie had seen some where she works and picked one up for us. Amelia was really looking forward to building it and kept on shouting "cook, cook, cook" all morning and grabbed her apron ready to put it together. I was surprised as she actually sat down to build and decorate it and she seemed to really enjoy it!

We then headed over to a local garden centre so Amelia could see Santa! She was much better with him this time and actually wanted to sit next to him and even let us take a picture with him which was nice. Later that afternoon we went over to my parents house for a family get together. Originally we were going to be having a Christmas dinner this evening, but in the end my mum cooked us all up a curry banquet which went down a treat! It was nice to get into the Christmas mood and relax. Amelia also loves seeing her grandparents so it was nice for her to spend time with them too.

When we got home we got Amelia bathed and into her new Christmas pjs, and put out some treats for Santa and the reindeer and then we sat down and read the Night before Christmas book and watched a Christmas film before putting her to bed. Then Andy and I sat downstairs wrapping last minute presents, stuffing our faces with festive snacks and getting in the festive spirit! It's been nice to spend Christmas Eve together and do Christmasy things as a family and I can't wait for next Christmas as our family grows!

I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas!
