BATHROOM STORAGE SOLUTIONS

For the longest time now I have wanted to have a makeover in the bathroom. It's the only room we have left untouched since we moved in last September and it could do with some much needed attention. I have been pinning ideas to my Pinterest board for the longest time now which you can click here to see what I have in mind. My main aim is to create a space which is inviting to guests and included that added bit of luxury, spa like and modern.

Make use of wall space

The first thing I would like to do is add some shelving for storage purposes. We have a pretty small sized bathroom so there's not much room to swing a cat in it let alone have lots of lovely bathroom furniture like I dream of. Instead I have come up with a solution to install 3-4 floating shelves along one corner of the wall above the toilet area. This will hopefully create plenty of space to display towels, a basket full of toilet rolls to keep them looking tidy and a few ornaments and frames here and there for decoration. It will probably turn out nothing like I have in my mind but I am really hoping to make use of the space that we have.

Vanity unit

Next, I have been looking at vanity units for a while as they are great bases for more storage especially in smaller bathrooms. I have seen many white ones which would fit in with our theme well however none of them seem to be the correct size so I think we may have to get one fitted. I'm looking forward to being able to organise the underneath space and have everything neatly stored away.

Toiletry shelf above door

Another idea I had in mind when we moved in was to install a shelf over the bathroom door which is a great out of the way place to store towels, baskets or bulky items to save room in the cabinet. I've been nagging Andy to put one up for me for months now and he still hasn't got round to it. This space wouldn't be used for anything else so we may as well make the most of it.

Wicker baskets

I am a huge fan of wicker baskets and have many dotted around the house in each room for numerous reasons. They are great in and on top of wardrobes and also handy in the bathroom either in the vanity unit, on the side near the wash basin to store any essentials you may wish to have near by or on a shelf with other bits and bobs.

Roll towels

By rolling towels instead of folding them you can fit more of them in the same amount of space. It will also make your bathroom feel more spa like if you are going for that look. I really can't recommend this trick enough!

Do you have any tips or tricks for storage in small bathrooms?
