37 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE BABY #2

This week we are FULL TERM! Baby boy is the size of a winter melon and roughly weighs around 6.3lb. I'm not sure if it's just me but I definitely think the bump has dropped slightly this week. He's forever changing position and making my bump look different each week but it just looks a lot different in this photo.

I had my 36 week midwife appointment on Tuesday to check on his growth and he now measures at 33 weeks so is finally catching up and not as far behind on the growth chart as he previously was. This midwife didn't seem concerned so no need to be sent for a growth scan as she was happy with my belly size which is good to know. I was 3/5 engaged on Tuesday too, although I know that doesn't mean anything really and he may stay there for another 3-5 weeks but it's good to know he is making progress. My midwife also came over yesterday afternoon to write up my birth plan, I never did one with Amelia so wasn't really all that bothered this time but it's good to have some sort of plan in your mind I guess.

I don't have the linea nigra this time round but didn't get it with Amelia until the last couple of weeks if I remember rightly. Still no stretch marks to report, I've even stopped using any of my creams as I always forget but will definitely use them once I've given birth just to help get my skin firmer again. I weighed myself this morning and now weigh 8st 11lb which means I've put on a total of this 15lbs pregnancy so far! Hoping I don't put on too much more in these final weeks.

I've enjoyed not having to shave my legs much at all this pregnancy, I think I've only shaved them 3 times and that's not just because I can't be bothered to as I can still reach my legs easily its just that there is literally nothing to get rid of! My hair has been growing extremely slow this pregnancy which is nice. Heartburn seems to have kicked in full force recently and is horrible when I go to bed. My belly button seems to have completely popped now and is on the verge of becoming an outie!

My next appointment is next Tuesday at 38 weeks so we will see if anything much has changed then, although I highly doubt it as I'm expecting him to be late just like his big sister.

  1. Congrats on reaching full term :) Sorry about the heartburn, I had it really badly during my pregnancy too. I didn't get a linea nigra either, it's strange how some do and some don't :)

  5. Try baking soda mixed with water to prevent heart burn. It's not exactly tasty but worked pretty well for me and allowed me to avoid proper drugs. Happy to hear your baby is growing well! :) You must feel relieved.

  6. Congratulations Kerry! Heartburn is awful - I suffered terribly when I was pregnant with my little boy though it might have had something to do with being sick 8 times a day for 9 months :( Hope it's not too unbearable x

  10. My baby boy is only 10 weeks old and this post has made me broody. I had to go for a growth scan at 37 weeks as my bump was small too. They estimated his weight to be 6.6 lbs but he came out at 7.6 lbs. :-)
