36 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE BABY #2

With just one month until my due date this week baby boy is now the size of a melon weighing roughly 5.75 lb and around 18.75 inches long. I had my 35 week midwife appointment last Tuesday and was still measuring behind at just 31 weeks so I am booked in to see the midwife again tomorrow to see if there's been any growth since. If not then I will be referred for a growth scan. I also ended up going to the hospital for some testing as they found blood and protein in my urine.

I think I may have done my last shift at work this Saturday and have started my maternity leave. I have a week booked off now and everyone has told me not to go back afterwards, to have a few weeks to relax before baby boy arrives and to enjoy Christmas. I was due to finish on December 22nd when I'll be 38 weeks but I guess it will be nice to have a couple of more weeks off beforehand.

I've finally painted the nursery, and will hopefully complete the nursery this week so I can share a few photos on here. I think I have bought everything we need now too as I made a few last minute purchases of some new clothes and bedding.

We still can't agree on a name, I keep trying to drop hints but Andy's not having any of it ha ha! I also don't like any of the names he suggests either so looks like this baby will be nameless at this rate. I'm thinking of maybe firing a few names at Amelia and seeing which one she says clearest haha!

I've been getting a load of aches and pains especially if I'm on my feet or doing the housework, so it's probably a good idea that I do finish work now before I get any bigger. The hospital also picked up that I have low blood pressure which is why I've been feeling faint all the time as my iron levels are higher this time than the last pregnancy. I've been advised to up my salt intake and drink more water.

Braxton hicks have also been non stop this week, and actually pretty painful sometimes. I know they're not real contractions though so I guess I just have to put up with them. Leg cramps are getting worse too, and I keep waking up in the night because of them. Sometimes 2-3 times a night which can be a pain!

I think that's it to update you on this week, you can check out previous updates here

  1. Your bump is coming along lovely :) Personally, I'd take the time now while you can - I went off at 35 weeks, there was talk of inducing me at 37 weeks and I wanted a couple of weeks off first, they ended up inducing me at 39 weeks, so only a week early and he was still little then (6lb 9oz) and there was them thinking he was going to be big!

Enjoy the next couple of weeks :D

  5. Gosh! What a lovely bump you have! Boy names seem to be harder to choose and agree on - I'm sure you'll come up with something by the time you need to register him ;) I hope the midwife appointment/growth scan goes well xx #BlogBumpClub

  6. You look absolutely amazing I love your bump updates. I am so excited for you and can't wait to see a million baby photos with your little one too. It's great to see your first love up on your second. I love having two close in age boy and girl. It's fab. Braxton hicks are horrible I thought. Had them lots with my son. Not long now enjoy that little extra time off before it gets busy especially during the holidays.

  9. Hope you and the baby are well. Try not to worry about the size of your bump. You may just be hiding it really well. I worried to death when I was told I was measuring six weeks behind! In the end I had a very healthy average size baby. Good luck for the last few weeks! They are the toughest.
