Can you tell I'm excited for Christmas this year? I think as the years go on I get even more excited, I guess having children does that to you and next year will be even more exciting with both of them here! With just under 5 weeks to go until the big day I have been getting prepared and getting everything ready as I really want to be done the week before hand so I can relax when I go off on maternity leave. Here's what I've been buying and doing recently:

I'm not keen on the whole Elf on the shelf idea, I find them really creepy if I'm honest and I can't really be bothered to find different places to put him every day plus Amelia won't understand at this age either. So instead as she LOVES her fairy door which we bought for her birthday so much I thought it would be a nice idea to start a tradition of the Elf door! Every year I can put the door up on the 1st of December or even the 24th I haven't decided yet and tell Amelia she has to behave otherwise the elves will come and take all her presents away...bribery works right? Just kidding! I just love the idea and making it all magical and hopefully over the years we can make it a family tradition with both of the kids.

This year I have been on the look out for some new Christmas decorations to add to the house. These lovely Vermont houses from Culture Vulture Direct are the perfect addition and will look amazing on our mantelpiece. These painted house decorations are based on Vermont folk art and each come with a flickering LED tealight which you pop inside to create a fireside glow within. They will look lovely when I have all the decorations up and the lights dimmed.

How amazing are these personalised santa sacks from Next? Made from soft chenille with a red ribbon to keep the presents secure you can personalise your own sack for someone special which will look great under the Christmas tree on the big day!

I have been busy creating Amelia's book advent calendar over the past couple of weeks and it's finally complete and ready for December 1st! I am so excited to share it with her. I will have a post up in the next few days so keep an eye out for that.

I am a huge Yankee Candle fan and with my ever growing collection I've added a few more additions to my Christmas collection this year! I recently bought Icicles and another snowfake and this sugared apple is lit in my living room as I type. I'm hoping to buy a new Christmas scent...or two every year.

It can't be Christmas without mentioning chocolate now can it? These delicious goodies are from Hotel Chocolat and would make the perfect gift for a loved one. Hotel Chcolat have a new range this Christmas which has been created with lower sugar content. Great options for children as well as all the family. The Cool Yule Christmas Slab and Alternative Minch Pies are great gifts or stocking fillers. You can find out more about the yummy range here

My advent calendar this year is this lovely Yankee Candle calendar filled full of the little wax tarts. It is more expensive than your usual chocolate calendar but it's worth it for all the new candles! I can't wait for December 1st so I can open the first door.

Another new tradition we are starting this year is with this Santa's Plate. I really wanted one last year but left it too late and couldn't get one delivered in time plus Amelia wouldn't have understood. This year she knows what Christmas is and it will be so much fun to put the plate out before bed with milk and a mince pie (or cookie) for santa along with a carrot for Rudolph and then we can keep it for next year with baby boy too.

Are you starting any new traditions this Christmas?
