BOOKS TO HELP OLDER CHILD ADJUST TO NEW BABY

Amelia will become a big sister in a matter of weeks, there will be a lot to adjust to and I'm sure we will learn a lot from the whole experience too. However, to help ease her into the situation I decided to purchase some books to help her understand more about this new little baby brother who will soon be outside of mummy's belly.

Here are the books we have been reading for the past couple of months:

Her favourites seem to be I'm a New Big Sister, Waiting For Baby and I'm A Big Sister, we have been reading these a lot recently and I really do think that it has helped Amelia understand a bit more especially when we talk about the baby. Of course, only time will tell how she actually reacts when he's here but I'm hoping that by reading these books regularly she will learn to accept her little brother and not be come jealous.

Other books to help with the transition:

Do you have any books to add to the list? What books did you buy your child to help adjust to their new sibling?

  4. These books look great. LP was only 20 months when Little Man arrived so we didn't really need any books or anything - she didn't have a clue what was happening! x

  6. I think it is so important to help the new big sister/brother adjust to their new role, and books are a great way of doing this. We still have our book, which I read over and over to my daughter before her brother was born, you have listed it above! I'm a big sister, by Joanna Cole.

  10. We read Best-Ever Big Brother and I'm a Big Brother for my son before my little girl was born. It's definitely scary at first, not knowing what to expect, but when they start interacting with each other... the heart melts! Best wishes!
