STAYING ORGANISED

I'm always receiving emails and messages from readers asking how I keep on top of everything with the blog and being a busy mum. I'll be honest, I'm not a very organised person. I like to think I am and do try to be but after a while I slack and everything gets on top of me. With a new baby on the way I've been trying to be more organised with everything so the transition runs smoothly and come January I will be starting to use my family organiser which I will share with you all soon.

Here are a few of the things that I like to do to help stay organised:

Daily To-Do Lists

The main thing that I like to do is write lists, I use my iPhone for this the majority of the time to jot down things to do quickly when I'm out and about so I can easily remember. I like the app "To-do" for this although I do usually just use the notes section and create new lists.

I've recently been looking for a family calendar which we will start using in January as it's good to be able to see what everyone has planned for the week/month ahead. Especially with another addition to the family meaning more health visitor appointments etc it will make things much easier to keep on top of. I like the idea of a personalised calendar and came across PhotoBox which would be perfect for keeping the family organised and will look great on my kitchen or office wall.

Blog Organisation

I was introduced to Personal Planner last year at Brit Mums Live and we were given a complimentary code to purchase our own planners. I loved using ours and when the planner had come to the next year I decided to purchase another as I couldn't live without it. It has helped me to keep on top of everything from blog posts, work, meal planning and day to day appointments. I still use Google Drive for keeping on top of my accounts and payments which you can read more about here

Meal Planning

I am pretty rubbish at this however I have been trying more recently to get back into it. It's difficult as we don't eat at home every night due to work and on our days off we tend to order takeaways as it's easier. I needed to cut down my weekly food shop as I found that we were spending far too much especially seeing as most of it was junk food rather than actual meals. I have managed to reduce our food shop by on average £30 a week just by writing down what meals we will have each day and the ingredients on another list. That way I'm not adding random items to the basket which we don't actually need.

How do you like to keep organised?

  8. I want to be organised (but usually fail) especially with one of my own on the way. I currently use Wunderlist on my phone, but am desperately looking for a planner/diary to use. Highly tempted to get myself a Personal Planner - they're such a good idea!

  9. Great ideas. I am usually quite organised and write lists. Definetly need to try and get a bit more organised with Christmas presents though.
