27 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE BABY #2

Hello third trimester! I'm not entirely sure if it's week 27 or week 28 when you enter the third trimester as I keep reading different things everywhere, however I'd like to think it's week 27 so I'm going with that! I still can't believe we've made it this far but it's flown by, I just hope these next 13 weeks slow down a little. This week baby boy is the size of a rutabaga or cauliflower depending on which app you go by. He now weights two whole pounds and is around 14.5 inches long.

I've had a pretty easy second trimester compared to last time if I'm honest which has been good. I just hope the third is as good to me too. This week I've been getting many more braxton hicks which seem to be lasting longer and more throughout the day too and not just during the evening. They sometimes  stop me in my tracks, but aren't too painful. I think I need to drink more as I only have one or two drinks a day.

Bump is definitely growing as you can see from the weekly photos however I'm still to gain much weight. I now weigh 8st which is 1 pound less than what I weighed at 24 weeks and just 4 lbs more than pre-pregnancy but I think that's down to not being able to eat much this past week and I have no appetite at all at at tea time.

Baby boy is still nameless and probably will be until he's here at this rate. Andy and I just can't seem to agree on any names. It's not the end of the world but it would be nice to have a name picked out so we can start calling him by it and introducing it to Amelia.

I need to book my next midwife appointment as I've not been seen since 16 weeks. I was told to book it for 28 weeks but I'm unable to attend that week as I'm away so will most probably be at 29 weeks now. I have no idea if my bump is an average size and how he's growing so that will be good to reassure.

That's it for this week, you can check out previous updates here

  2. Your bumps so tiny & make's me miss mine (am totally broody!). I find boys names are much harder, my son's name is Benjamin which is his dads middle name, that's why we chose it. But we wouldn't confirm it until he was born.

I can't believe you have to book your own midwife appointments, I remembered that when I was at my appointments we would always book the next one. Suppose it just depends on the surgery.

Hope you enjoy the third trimester, and that it slows down for you.

  7. Your bump is so small compared to what mine was like at 27 weeks! (I looked like I was smuggling a basketball!) - It's so hard choosing names, isn't it? I found it so much easier choosing a boys name though!
