NURSERY PROGRESS

A lot has changed in the nursery since my last progress post so I thought I'd share what I've done so far as I love reading these types of posts on other blogs. I hate seeing boxes of furniture lying around waiting to be built so we decided to build the cot and rocking chair last week which I love! The cot is slightly different than the one I originally had wanted but I really like it, the only downside is the draw underneath isn't really that deep so I can't put in the Ikea storage boxes to organise any clothes, so I think I'll use it for keepsakes and blankets.

The nursery is the smallest room in the house so it doesn't give me a lot of room to work with. I had initially wanted a large Hemnes chest of drawers in there but sadly there is just no room as the unit takes up a lot of room! We went ahead and ordered the smaller one thinking it would fit but it's ridiculously big so I've put that in Amelia's room instead. Luckily the built in wardrobe in this room is quite spacious and will accommodate a lot. I'm planning on installing another rail underneath the top rail of clothing as we don't have any drawer space this will be great for hanging plenty of clothes.

I took out the cube unit and have put that in the room instead as it will be great for storing bits and bobs and also for having items handy on top such as nappies and wipes. I like the fact that I can now store some of his books in the unit and they'll be handy for being next to the chair. I'm not sure what I'm planning on doing with the empty space at the bottom of the wardrobe now, perhaps I'll just buy some more wicker baskets for storing blankets and swaddles etc.

I love the mobile from Babyjives, I was searching for a cloud mobile for ages on Etsy and finally found one that I liked. I've kept the bedding neutral as I didn't want too many greys in the room, I do have a cot bumper which is a darker grey with white stars but I'm not sure whether we'll use it yet. I also have a white and grey star cot duvet spread for when he is older which will go great in his room. I have a few more soft toys and cushions waiting to arrive too so they should add a bit of colour to the cot. I'm not too sure on the curtains anymore, they looked nice when I bought them on the website but I think they're too in your face. I bought them because they are blackout curtains and I really need them after Amelia would never sleep with normal curtains letting in the light. I would much prefer to have plain white voile curtains so I may switch to those for the time being until he's sleeping in his own room.

I still have a few more bits to add to the nursery including some bunting, decorative items, shelves and also picture ledges for his books like Amelia's. I'm not in any rush as he's not due until January but I would like to have it all completed before I start my maternity leave in December. As you may have already guessed I'm not a fan of a lot of colour so wanted to keep in neutral and just incase he turns out to be a she (you never know) it will be easier to change around. Once it's complete I shall share a Nursery tour. You can view my original Nursery inspiration post here, as you can see it's stayed pretty much the same with some changes.

What do you think of the progress so far?
