24 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE BABY #2

24 weeks down and 16 to go! This week baby is the size of a cantaloupe and now weighs roughly  1.25lb and 12.5 inches long. I'm so happy to reach the 24 week milestone as it means if baby was to be born early for any reason (hopefully not of course!) doctors can intervene and help as theres a better chance of survival.

I've not had a particularly big appetite this week, I'm never hungry until around lunch time and then eat a reasonably big lunch. But come tea time and I'm not really hungry at all, I'm not finishing half of my meals. Still no cravings either, I'm still eating a mixture of sweet and savoury and don't really favour any over the other.

Still as tired as ever, especially in the afternoon if I'm sat down on the sofa I end up drifting off to sleep. But come bedtime and I can't switch off. Think I need to start going to bed before midnight to catch up on some sleep as Amelia likes to wake at 6am these days! I can't wait for the dark mornings so she still thinks its night time.

I keep waking up at night, not to empty my bladder but instead in pain from cramps!! Boy do these hurt! The toe separating ones are truly the worst! I remember getting a lot of cramping in my legs and feet last pregnancy but not until closer to the end. I've also noticed a bit of reflux late at night when I'm laying in bed. Nothing as bad as heartburn but it's not nice.

I've finally put some more weight on woohoo! I've now put on a total of 5 lbs this pregnancy and weight 8st1. I guess I'll start pilling on the pounds now as I'm already bigger than I was with Amelia at around 30 weeks pregnant.

You can read last weeks update here. See you next week for week 25!

  3. Eating bananas is a good way to stop those cramps, apparently it's the potassium that helps. x

  5. I was exactly the same as you - I'd have a tiny breakfast, a reasonable sized lunch and just pick at my dinner. I didn't get cramp though :(

  9. I had cramps the other night and it was horrid. I hope it doesn't become a regular thing! I wrote on my blog about my first trimester this week and remembering how miserable I felt, I think we have it fairly ok at 24 weeks :) x
