14 Week Pregnancy Update - Baby #2

Fourteen weeks already! This pregnancy is racing by so far, well at least it feels like it since the 12 week scan. This past week I've been feeling pretty good apart from getting some belly aches late at night. I'm not sure if it's just because I've eaten far to much from stuffing my face all day long as I'm always hungry ha ha! But I'm not as hungry when I wake up in the mornings and I've noticed I've not been feeling as bloated these past few days especially in the evening where I would usually feel really bloated and find it uncomfortable to sit down.

I've been experiencing numerous headaches when I bend down to pick something up, my head is pounding when I lift my head back up and I have to stop in my tracks as my vision also goes. I never usually get headaches so I think it may be due to de-hydration as I don't really drink much during the day. I'm still waiting on my iron level results so it could possibly have something to do with that.

I'm not sure if my pregnancy brain is starting or baby brain just never went away after Amelia, but I've been forgetting a lot recently and having a lack of concentration. I remember getting it towards the end of my pregnancy with Amelia where I was forever forgetting things and leaving my keys in the door or car.

No cravings still as of yet, I've not really been into eating much junk food recently either so I'm not sure if I'm having aversions to those. My cupboards are stocked full of chocolate, sweets and crisps which are still untouched which is unusual. Still not loving fast food either so think I've definitely gone off that for the time being. Since I'm down to one can of Dr pepper a day now I've been drinking more water but it has to be ice cold out of the fridge.

I've had a lot of people asking whether I think baby is a girl or boy, and honestly I have no idea. I'm no good at the whole intuition thing and have no clues leading me to either boy or girl. I won't be doing any of the old wives tales gender predictions as I really don't believe in them. We'll be happy either way as long as baby is healthy, and can't wait to find out!

This week I started clearing out our spare room which we will be turning into baby's nursery. I know it's far to early to even be thinking about decorating or organising yet but I like to plan ahead and the room is full of boxes since we moved in which I hadn't got round to sorting out/throwing out as I'm lazy. So once that's all sorted (which will probably take me up until at least 20 weeks) and emptied then I can get to work. I moved a few baby bits from Amelia's room such as wicker baskets with lotions etc which never got used and it was such a weird feeling sorting through baby stuff again.

Baby is now the size of a lemon and weighs around 1.5oz. He or she can now squint, frown, grimace, pee and possibly suck it's thumb! I'm pretty sure I felt the baby moving this week too, I'm not sure if it's just gas but it's been around the same spot each time and little flutters. Maybe I'm just imagining things as I didn't feel Amelia moving until I was around 20 weeks.

You can read my 13 week pregnancy update here incase you missed it and I'll be back next Friday for week 15.

  7. Exciting times! I'm waiting until the school hols (and teacher husband is around more) to get our nursery sorted but I must admit, it's the bit I'm most excited about at the moment. You look amazing - you've got a flatter stomach than I ever had pre-pregnancy! Thanks for linking up to the #BlogBumpClub again, lovely to read your update. x

  8. Sorry about your headaches! I'm just a week behind you and got my first yesterday and it lasted all night - I'm thinking its dehydration because I'm not drinking enough either but who knows. Glad for the most part you're feeling better though!

  10. I had blurry vision and headaches around the same time, and drinking a butt-load of water helped a lot. They cleared up for me after a while though, and now at nearly 20 weeks there are no problems with headaches or blacked-out vision. Hopefully it'll clear up on its own for you too!

  20. I felt Archie moving at 14 weeks, I think the second time you know what you are feeling for, and so recognise it a bit earlier. It was the position of my placenta too. x

  21. It could well be that you've felt the baby move...lots of people do with second pregnancies (I think I did from about 14 weeks this time, but was never completely sure). Hope you feel a bit better soon! x
