12 Week Pregnancy Update - Baby #2 (5-12 weeks)

If you haven't already seen the news we are expecting baby number two in January! My due date is the 9th which makes me 13 weeks pregnant today. I have been dying to share this news ever since I found out I was pregnant. I found out really early this time unlike half way through my pregnancy with Amelia so it seems like it's dragged this time ha ha! I finally went to see the midwife when I was 10 weeks pregnant and then was given a dating scan as I wasn't sure how far along I actually was seeing as my cycles are irregular and I didn't have one after the miscarriage back in March.

I thought it would be nice to document my pregnancy this time round as I didn't last time with Amelia and would love to see how my bump grows. So I shall start by updating you with what's been going on up until 12 weeks. This time last pregnancy with Amelia I didn't even know I was pregnant still and didn't find out until 18 weeks. It's actually been a far better pregnancy already as I was really anemic last time and working 60-70 hours a week on my feet all day long.

This time round I didn't tell any family or friends when we found out and I wanted to keep it that way for as long as possible. I actually found out at around 5/6 weeks pregnant which means we got pregnant just one month after the miscarriage which was a complete shock!! Once I had the 12 week scan I finally told our family and friends which felt like such a relief. I must admit this pregnancy has been a little tougher on me than the last and when pregnant with Amelia. I must have had it easy both times previous to this as I didn't get any of the symptoms I've experienced this time round but they do say every pregnancy is different.

I've had morning sickness this time, it was really bad from 6-8 weeks especially when I was France and as soon as I woke I felt as if I needed to throw up. Luckily I was only actually sick a handful of times but the nausea has been at its worst. If I don't eat I get really light headed and dizzy which I usually do when not pregnant anyways but it's been 10 times worse. I've had days where I literally can't even move off the sofa as I feel so sick. But it's all signs of a healthy pregnancy which I can't complain about at all. With the last pregnancy I didn't even feel pregnant and for some reason I wasn't worried.

I have a little podge already but to be honest I think that's just all the food I had been eating at the start as I had such a big appetite. I would look 20 weeks pregnant when I went to bed each night ha ha! Surprisingly I haven't put any weight on yet which is a good thing and my current weight is still 7st 10lb so it will be interesting to see how much I put on this pregnancy! At my first midwife appointment I was told my bmi is still underweight at 17 but it's better than it was when I was pregnant with Amelia so I'm not classed as high risk this time which is good. It's weird because I can't believe I didn't know I was pregnant until 18 weeks with Amelia as I still wasn't showing then. This time round I think I will be showing in a couple of weeks! I'm still getting about 6-7 hours sleep a night which is okay, I could do with a bit more if I'm honest! I would love a nap during the day but it's not possible now that Amelia doesn't nap anymore.

I've gone off so many types of food, mainly my favourites which is quiet annoying. I can't even drink Dr pepper in the evening anymore as it doesn't taste as nice for some reason so I only drink it during the daytime now. Macdonalds just doesn't appeal to me anymore, same with crisps and any sort of takeaways.

So that's all I have to update you on at the moment really, I look forward to documenting this pregnancy and I hope you will enjoy following us on our journey to becoming a family of four. Keep an eye out for more pregnancy posts and my 13 week update next week. My weeks change on a Friday so I think I will upload them every Friday. Sorry this was such a long one, just had a lot to update you on, next week's won't be as long.

    1. Lucky! haha. I didn't have it with Amelia either so guess every pregnancy is different. I only had it for 2 weeks so it's not too bad i suppose. Yeah, we were completely shocked!! I was very ill with anemia and though that was why, then they made me do a pregnancy test and we found out haha! xx

  26. Morning sickness can be so tough - I've found with my clients there are a few ways to reduce the nausea. Eat within 30 minutes of waking, manage blood sugar levels (so avoid sugars and highly refined and processed foods), and eat quality fats with fermented foods. It is really important to get the right nutrients during pregnancy as healthy fetal development relies on the mother's diet :)
