Maternity Basics

When I was pregnant with Amelia I didn't purchase a single item of maternity wear. I didn't start to get a bump until around 30 weeks and I didn't really see the point in wasting money for just a few weeks when I would fit straight back into my normal clothes afterwards. I actually still fitted in all of my pre-pregnancy clothes although I may have stretched a few t-shirts towards the end. Looking back now I wish I had bought some nice maternity clothes for the last few weeks to feel comfortable in, I felt that I was covering up my bump most of the time, when really I should have been showing it off.

Next time I will definitely be buying some nice maternity jeans and leggings just to feel that bit more comfortable instead of having my jeans rub against the bump. I will also be buying some nice maternity dresses and t-shirts which actually show off the bump.
Here are some of my favourite basic maternity pieces which I would have loved to have worn whilst pregnant:

1. Kate Thomas Maternity Bump Bag

2. Cantaloop Tank Top

  1. I think I lived in maternity basics throughout my pregnancies! You can't beat vest tops and maternity jeans/leggings x

  2. Jeans and leggings definitely - I got my jeans by ordering a variety to be delivered to local stores (H&M, M&S, New Look etc) and then spent a day collecting, trying and returning. I felt so much better after I got real maternity jeans (it followed a weekend of tears and shopping in PJs...)
