Last week during our stay at Bluestone we spent a day at Folly Farm. Before going to Bluestone I searched the good ole internet for local attractions for children near by and Folly Farm is the one that caught my eye. The weather wasn't too great but that didn't stop us from having a great day out. There's plenty to do at Folly Farm for all ages, from the Jolly Barn to see lots of animals to the Vintage Funfair.
Amelia wasn't too fussed about the animals to begin with but we did go back into the barn later in the afternoon when she pet a lamb and was more interested in the animals. I think her favourites were the goats and horses and she also liked the animal sound board which she kept on playing with.
We then headed over to the Vintage Funfair which was brilliant! Lots of big kids playing on the machines, I'm sure it brought back childhood memories for them when they were kids. The carnival rides were from back in the early 1900's and Amelia loved going on the carousel and a few other rides too. She wasn't too keen on the ghost train and looks traumatised when we came out ha ha! There was a real vintage feel to the funfair and all the old machines and rides were really interesting to look at. There was also a huge play area at the back which she loved running around, and it took us a while to get her away from it so we could go for lunch.
After lunch we headed over to the zoo and on the way saw some giraffes, we even went up to the giraffe viewing point and were able to see them unclose, they even came right up to our faces! Pretty amazing experience as even at any zoo we've been to we've never been able to see them that close! We also saw some penguins which Amelia loved watching from underneath and kept laughing and shouting at them swimming underwater.
We ended the day by passing through the gift shop, and of course Amelia was able to choose something herself. Did she want a cute cuddly soft toy, no she wanted this horse! I kept trying to give her other animals and she kept putting them back and pulling this horse around so we guessed she wanted it ha ha! All in all we had a great day out and there's plenty to do at Folly Farm, was definitely worth a trip there and if we're ever in the area again we will go back, hopefully the weather will be nicer!
