Brit Mums Live 2014

I've been meaning to write this post for a few days now ever since I arrived home from another amazing weekend at Brit Mums Live. However, truth be told I've been absolutely shattered! I've barely had the energy to get out of bed let alone go on the laptop as Amelia's had me up early hours every day. I've now had a chance to reflect and look back on an amazing fun packed weekend full of laughter, catching up with friends and also making new friends. I finally got to meet so many bloggers who I speak to and read their blogs on a regular basis.

After attending BritMums last year I booked my ticket the day the early bird rate went on sale, it was such an amazing experience I couldn't wait to attend again. For some reason as the weeks and days drew nearer I seemed to be more nervous this year than last. I think the main reason for that was due to travelling alone this year where as Andy and Amelia came with me last year. I'm usually a very shy person, and like to keep myself to myself, which you may notice.

After a 4 hour train journey I arrived in London and met up with Vikki and Michelle at the station close to the venue. Although none of us had actually met before we all got on really well from the word go. We then made our way over to the Montcalm hotel which was on the door step of the event at The Brewery.

We were able to check in early as the rooms were ready which was great as I didn't fancy dragging my suitcase around for hours before hand. The rooms were amazing, I was staying in a Club Suite which I hadn't realised I had booked which was a lovely surprise. I wish I had spent more time in the room to actually appreciate it as the only time I was there was to sleep! Maybe next year I stay over for two nights?

We then made our way to meet Charlotte at the station and also met up with James and his lovely wife Katy while we were waiting and then went for lunch. It was just like catching up with old friends and felt like we'd all known each other for years. That's the great thing about blogging, you meet so many lovely people, people who you consider friends even if you do only seen them once or twice a year! We then made our way back to the venue and were met by a sea of bloggers!

Once we had registered and grabbed our name badges off we went to have a good browse and chatter in the hub. After the welcome meeting we ended up back in the hub and made our way around the stands interacting with brands. It was great to see a vary of different brands, and new ones who weren't there last year. Although I must admit, I felt that the brands last year were more relevant and there were many random ones this year which I didn't bother to go over to. I loved the fact that Morrisons and Heinz Baby had a lounge each and these were much better than Warner Brothers and Tkmax which were in the rooms last year which I found rather boring to be honest. It was great to speak with the ladies over at Parragon Books, and the fact that they knew my blog was a nice touch as I am one of their book buddies.

I only went to three sessions this year, one on the Friday and two on the Saturday (Photography with Julia Boggio & How to Instagram Better). I'll be honest, I didn't think much of the sessions on the agenda this year, where as last year there were many more sessions related to blogging itself which I really enjoyed. The first session I attended was "How to make your blog look gorgeous" held by the talented Lucy Heath (Capture by Lucy) which I really really enjoyed. She is just so inspiring and made the session very enjoyable. I've loved reading her blog for the past couple of years and her photography always has me in awe! Although I am happy with my blog design I left the session wanting to get on the laptop right away and see if I could make any slight adjustments. It's always great to see other peoples perspectives on things and get a few ideas.

Friday ended with the BiBs awards which I was up as a finalist for the Style category which I knew I had no chance of winning up against such amazing blogs, although after hearing the speech before the winner was announced I have no idea how I was even allowed in that category in the first place from the way it was read out. It sounded very much like it was an award for a stylish blog as in a fashion or beauty blogger which I am most definitely not, where as I had thought Home & Interiors would have come into that category as did many others I believe. However I would like to stay thank you to everyone who nominated me and voted for me to the finalist list which I was amazed and thankful for.

Also a huge thank you to everyone who came up to me afterwards and said they were routing for me to win, that was so nice of you all. I was so very pleased to see some of my favourite bloggers win awards too, Katie for Best Family Blog,  Jessica for Best Craft Blog and Lucy for Best Photography, all very well deserved! After the awards, a group of us headed off in search of food and we ended up at Nando's, it was nice to sit down and chat more with bloggers who I hadn't spoken as much to before.

Saturday was another day of socialising with bloggers, meeting brands and having a good old natter. I had the pleasure of meeting so many talented bloggers, people who I have been talking to online for a while now and some who I haven't spoken to before. It was so nice to meet Helen (again), AlexLaura, Bex, Laura, Lisa, LeylaDeborah, Hayley just to name a few and spend some time with you all. Also thanks to everyone else who came over to say hi! I'm so glad you did as I'm quite a shy person so not usually the first person to introduce myself.

Thank you Brit Mums and my wonderful sponsors Cantaloop & Dr Browns for an amazing weekend! Will I attend next year? We'll have to wait and see! I will be purchasing my ticket this week. However I will have to see what happens over the next year and hopefully there will be a few more interesting sessions next year, although the main reason I attend Brit Mums is just to interact with bloggers and brands.

Did you attend Brit Mums Live?

  8. Ah love the photos of you all! And thank you for your lovely words about the BIBS, I am still over the moon. I was so routing for you and Fritha as well- both your blogs are some of my favourites as you know. It's such a shame we didn't get to chat for longer, but it's impossible isn't it? There are so so many people to talk too and you end up chatting to the same group all weekend! x
