Gift Guide | For The New Mum

Before having a baby of my own I never knew what to buy a new or expecting mum! Over the two years of being a mum I now have a pretty good idea what to give a new mum when I need to find a gift. Especially with so many wonderful products out there to be had! I've included a few items for mum and a few for baby. Hopefully this list can give you some ideas if your are looking for a gift for a new mum.

1 // Navy Maternity Dress, £150, This maternity dress is designed to be used throughout pregnancy and can also be used for breastfeeding. Ideal for sprucing up their new mummy wardrobe or giving them the head start to do so.

2 // Baroo Nursing Pillow, £19.99, A feeding cushion is a great way to release any strain from breastfeeding. Giving your arms freedom to stroke baby's face instead! The cushion can also be used for tummy time and helping their baby sit up once they get a bit older. You can also find some cute covers for the pillows so this is a lovely gift.

3 // Bebe Au Lait Nursing Cover, £27.50, For breastfeeding mums they will soon find that newborns require feeding regularly, usually every 2-3 hours which is several times a day! You never know where you may be at a certain time and if hunger strikes then baby will need to be fed. Most new mums are very uncomfortable and nervous feeding in public and so why not treat her to a stylish nursing cover. They are very easy to use and many people won't batter an eye lid when you are wearing it. They come in a rang of colours and patterns so there's something to suit everybody.

4 // Yummy Mummy Notepad, £22, We all know that the pregnancy brain stays with you after giving birth and you will now have baby brain! Every new mum will be too busy changing nappies than keeping up to date with bills and appointments so why not gift her this yummy mummy notepad and she can jot everything down.

5 // Baby Powder Yankee Candle, £14.99, I adore this scent! It's perfect for any new mum. It really does smell like baby powder and freshly bathed babies which is lovely!

6 // Gucci Jewellery Ladies Heart Motif Bracelet , £105, How gorgeous is this bracelet? I want one for myself now having found it! This would make a lovely gift to a new mum and you could get their babies name engraved onto it along with the date of birth on the other side.

7 // Storksak Elizabeth Quilted Bag, £250, On the more pricer side this designer changing bag would be perfect for the stylish new mum. Having a changing bag which doesn't look like a changing bag is great for mums on the go with a busy lifestyle.

8 // Merci Maman Intertwined Necklace, £79, Gift this special necklace to a friend with a new baby as they will love it! The intertwined circles on the necklace are the perfect symbol of an unbreakable relationship. You could engrave the parents and child's name on the circles or leave it blank for them to engrave themselves the choice is yours. All mums love getting personalised presents so she will love this gift!

9 // Aden & Anais Swaddle Blankets, £29.95, These gorgeous swaddle blankets are the perfect gift for a new mum. They are beautifully presented and every mum will love them!

10 // Luxury Mummy Spa Set, £39.95, Every new mum needs pampering especially after the first few weeks or months of sleepless nights and letting themselves get run down. Many new mums won't want to leave their babies so young so why not gift her this luxury mummy spa set and she can get the full treatment at home. You could even offer to babysit whilst she has a relaxing evening upstairs!

11 // Peter Rabbit Baby Record book, £12.95, This will definitely make her smile. A beautiful baby record book to keep all her memories of her new bundle of joy.

What gift do you remember receiving as a new mum which was greatly appreciated or used often?

  2. Some good tips. I'd also suggest having a nappy disposal bin for your baby's dirty nappies. You definitely don't want to be putting those stinky things into your regular kitchen bin!
