Mini Bento | What Amelia Eats

Ever since I started Amelia on solids she's been a fussy little madam. I wonder where she gets it from! I was always fussy as a child right up until a couple of years ago. You may remember this post "What Amelia Eats: Toddler Edition" which I posted when Amelia was around 14 months old. She had always been fussy and would only eat food pouches but I finally got her eating a few meals which lasted a couple of weeks then she would refuse to eat them and we ended up having pouches again. In my attempt to get Amelia to eat better and introduce her to new foods I have decided to create a little snack box for lunch times these are also known as Bento lunch boxes which are very popular in Japan and America but becoming more so in the UK now. I remember seeing them on Pinterest when Amelia was a newborn and thinking they looked like fun!

Amelia only tends to eat snack type foods for lunch as she likes to pick at them so I thought this would be perfect for us! She loves strawberries and they are the only fruit she eats other than banana when she's not being fussy so I would love for her to eat more fruit. Fruit snacks such as star and heart shaped fruit will make eating them much more fun, so it's always good to invest in some shaped cookie cutters.

You may be thinking Why does Amelia need a lunch box she's not in school?! Yes you're right she's not but she is the fussiest eater and I'm hoping this will get her liking food and trying new foods too! Also when she does start nursery she will be familiar with her lunches and I would like to continue with it for as long as I possibly can.

So last month I bought a whole bunch of bento goodies from eBay and got to work. The lunch boxes usually only take about 5 minutes to make and you can even make them the day before to save on time. We've only been doing them for the past week or so and already I've noticed a difference, she's tried a few new foods but still is picky with what she eats. She used to love cheese and for the past 6 months has refused to eat it but gave that a go today.

I thought it would be fun to share Amelia's lunches with you all as I've had many people ask me on Instagram so hopefully it will be interesting to some of you. So i've decided to start a series called "What Amelia Eats" with mini bento's. Perhaps you would like to make your kids lunch box fun or you have a fussy eater too.

Do you like to make your kid's lunch fun to eat?
