Our Top 5 Toddler Items

When Amelia was younger I shared our top baby products with you which saw us through the first few months of motherhood. Now that she is in fact a toddler I thought we would share our favourite items which we have been loving using. I didn't include toys because I already share her favourite wooden toys not long ago. Hopefully this post will be helpful to those wondering what products could be useful for your toddler.

Toddler Bed & Guard

Not long after Amelia turned 18 months I bought her a toddler bed however we didn't try her in it until we came back from holiday. She sleeps in it from 7.30-1/2am which is a start and has done for the past couple of months now. The one thing I was certain I would be buying was a bed guard, I opted for the Babydan Wooden Bed Guard which I love!! I'm not fond of the cheap looking plastic ones and wanted something that fitted in with her room which this does very well. It's really easy to remove and attach back on when needed, I tend to just leave it on though. Amelia never tries to climb over it and will slide to the end of the bed during the night to get down.

Booster seat

This is also another recent purchase now that Amelia is older but it was definitely worth it. She went through a phase of not wanting to sit in her highchair for months which ended up with her climbing out most of the time or just sitting in it for a few minutes each meal time. I noticed that she wanted to sit at the table instead as she would climb up on our dining chairs when ever she was in the kitchen so I decided to search for a booster seat so she could sit with us at the table. I found the Mama's & Papas's Baby Bud Booster Seat with a good deal on their eBaby shop so couldn't resist buying it. No more trying to get out of the highchair at meal times well at least not for 20 minutes or so but long enough for us to eat our dinner too. I would highly recommend a booster seat as your child grows or if they don't like being strapped into a highchair.

Smart Trike

Every toddler has a trike right? Well if not you must get them one! The amount of fun Amelia has on hers in unbelievable! When she got hers for her 1st birthday from Nana and Grandad her excitement was so funny to watch. We would take her out on it everyday before or after dinner and she would be squealing away and screaming with laughter as we ran down the road. We were also recently sent the SmarTrike 3 in 1 to review and although we haven't had much use out of it yet due to poor weather we can't wait to use it as soon as the weather clears up! The good thing about the trike is the fact you can adjust it to your child's age and it will grow with them.

Ikea Chair

We've had this chair for a good while now and it took Amelia a while to want to sit in it simply because she doesn't like sitting still!! She does however like standing on it and using it as a climbing frame. Now that she's older she will sit in it for short spaces of time and also for lunch time if she's having lunch in the living room. I just wish she would sit in it to watch a whole film... maybe some day ha ha!

Messy Me high chair cover

This is a genius product which we loved using when Amelia used her highchair. As a highchair gets used at least 3 times a day and for a good year of your baby/toddlers life it can get rather grubby no matter how often you clean it. The Messy Me high chair cover makes cleaning easier for parents and keeps your highchair looking in a new condition which is great for selling on or keeping for the next baby. I found it really easy to clean and would remove it every couple of days to give it a good thorough clean. It simply goes over your highchair and ties together underneath with a strap.
