Heart Shaped Treats

Hope you've all had a lovely Valentine's! This week I have been having fun with heart shaped foods, I thought I would share some of the things I have thrown together and some treats for your kids which aren't just for Valentine's Day! I was very kindly sent some heart shaped cutters to help me get in the Valentine's spirit.

First of all I baked these amazing cookies from scratch which is a first for me as I don't really bake anything! I had a few failed attempts at making the cookies as the first time they didn't taste nice at all then the second time I used plain flour and they ended up deflating ha ha! So third time lucky I managed to get the recipe right and ended up with some delicious cookies! I cut them into heart shapes using the metal heart cutters which were really easy to use and then decorated them with icing and sprinkles. I am rather pleased with how they turned out.

A cute way to spruce up a Valentine's meal why not surprise your other half with mini heart shaped potatoes! I noticed there were smaller cutters in the package I received so I thought I would make some little hearts. They actually took less time to cook than normal sized roast potatoes which was a bonus and made the meal look a little nicer.

And then for the children... why not make their lunch or dinner a with a little more love? I use different sized heart cutters to cut up the banana, sandwiches and strawberries. I'm not sure why I forgot to do the cucumber too but hey you could cut up just about anything you like into cute heart shaped foods!

I hope this post has given you some ideas on some heart shaped treats this Valentine's.
