When Amelia was younger, I'll be honest we didn't really read books. She didn't have a bedtime routine so we didn't read before bed, she didn't even have many books. It wasn't until she turned one when her collection began to grow and she became more interested in them. She now loves books and when playing in her room will walk over to her bookcase, help herself to a couple of books and sit down pointing and blabbering away to herself.
I also try and read more with her during the day and at night after bath time once she's ready for bed we sit down on our bed and will read a few books before walking through to her bedroom and climbing into bed. I'm glad she's beginning to read more and actually take an interest in them as it means I can buy her more. I bought her a few Christmas related books before Christmas and we read those in the run up to and after Christmas to get in the spirit and I also recently bought her some valentine's books.
She's had many favourites over the past year but I thought I would share her more recent top 5 books as these are the ones she's been picking each time we select a book to read.
We bought this for Amelia along with the "Daddy is my hero" book which she also likes reading, she always picks this one off the shelf to read and I also enjoy reading it to her.
This is a fairly new book which my brothers girlfriend very kindly bought her a few books. We've been reading these stories at night before bed and she loves looking at the images.
This is another one my brother's girlfriend bought Amelia, it's so cute!! I love reading this to her and she loves sitting down reading it too.
This is one of the books I bought before Valentine's day and we both enjoy reading it together.
I bought this book a while back now in hope to get it out when starting to potty train Amelia. She somehow found it one day and started reading it and it's usually one of the first she picks off the shelf. As she's coming to an age where I think she's nearly ready to start this will hopefully help with the process.
