Amelia: 22 Months

I can't believe Amelia is 22 months already, this past month has flown by and it seems like only yesterday I shared her 21 month update with you all! In just two short months Amelia will be two!! It makes me sad that she is no longer our little baby and is in fact a toddler who is growing rapidly. This month we have seen a lot of changes in her personality and character, some of which have been good and others not so good.

She can now say a few more words and this month has learnt how to say oh toodles, sofia, horse, elepha, toast, why, nose as well as everything she can already say. I'm hoping she will start to say more words over the next few months as she's never really been one to say many actual words, she will babble on in her own language all day long but I ask her to repeat words and she won't she'll just say them when she wants. She's getting much better at organising her shapes and puzzles as well as numbers and colours which is good as she never really played with them when she was younger which is partially my fault so the past few months she's been really getting into them.

For the past few months she's been grabbing our hands and pulling us over to play with her or get her toys off her toy unit and then sit down and play with her, its so sweet but can be rather tiring sometimes and she does it many times a day. This month she's been doing it more than ever which means I don't get 5 minutes to sit down without her coming over and tugging at my hand.

Her tantrums are still frequent and she has at least 5 a day i'd say, some more extreme than others. She definitely doesn't like being told off or the word no but thinks it's funny to slap mummy, pull my hair or bite my nipples!! I usually just leave her to cool off herself and she's back to her normal self when she realises I'm not paying any attention to her. She is such a hyperactive toddler and doesn't sit still, she's always on the go and wants to play non stop, climb everything in sight, throw everything around the room and do things she shouldn't be doing, tell me...is every toddler like this? haha! I wish she was more chilled out some days and would sit down and watch tv quietly like other toddlers!

I measured her myself this week and she was 85cm which I'm not sure if that's tall for her age but she does seem really tall to us, she was big at birth but then as she grew she seemed to be more average and she always seemed small to us. She's still in size 12-18 trousers which are still too big for her but this month we feel that she's grown a lot as she can now reach things higher up much easier! I still have no idea how much she weighs and should really weigh her at home as she's not been weighed since she was about 1 but I know she's not overweight or underweight so there's no concerns there.

Her hair is still an uncontrollable mess... I just can't seem to tame it down. It's so curly but she just won't let me put it in a pony tail! If I could do that with hair clips it would be much tidier most days. I'm hoping it will grow a bit more over the next year so she may allow me to tie it back if it's getting in her face.

She's getting slightly better at eating but is still a very fussy eater! This month she's started eating noodles, as well as yoghurts again and will now eat roast potatoes and chicken dippers which she wouldn't before. Other foods that she will eat are toast, Yorkshire pudding, cucumber, strawberries, potato waffles and that's pretty much it! She is so fussy, and won't even try foods I put in front of her. She did help her self to my soup the other day though whilst I was eating it so I had to give her some too. I'm hoping she will start stealing my food again and get an interest in different food!

I have been thinking about her birthday in April recently and I'm more laid back about it this time round, last year I had everything pretty much organised months in advance and I knew what I was doing, had most of the party decorations and her presents ordered. I've done nothing this year ha ha!! I'm still not sure what we're doing yet so I best get thinking. I can't wait for summer this year, it's going to so much fun and i'm looking forward to getting out as much as possible with her. We also live right next door to a park too which is great!
