How Much Could You Be Saving If You Kick Your Habits in 2014?

Bad habits... we all have them!

Whether that be eating too many takeaways in the week because it's easier than cooking, treating yourself to lunch out or even smoking and drinking. They all add up in the long run. Why not try and cut back on your bad habits and save money this year! Not only making you healthier there is definitely a lot to gain from ditching these bad habits.

Leeds Building Society have created an interactive guide to help you Kick Your Habits and find out how much you can save if you gave up a bad habit. I figured out that I could be saving £50 a week if I cut back on takeaways and eating out. Which according to the Kick your habit equals £2400 a year. Blimey! Not to forget the amount of interest I could make by placing that in a savings account. Just think of what I could be spending my money on instead! New toys for Amelia, put into savings or even a family holiday.

I will definitely be cutting back on the takeaways and eating out for lunch. It's shocking to know how much I waste a week when I could easily cook and eat at home. Luckily I don't smoke, have nights out or have time to drink so I can only imagine how much I would be spending then! This year I am wanting to start saving up for a deposit on a house, this will give me the kick start to do so!

Why not head on over to the Leeds Building Society website and find out how much you could be saving by using the Kick your habit tool. Do let me know your results below!

Do you have any bad habits you would like to ditch to save you some extra money?

  23. My worst habit is buying clothes in the sales and never wearing them. I convince myself that the bargains are too good to miss and it ends up being a complete waste of money. This year (so far) I have avoided all the sales and my bank is very grateful :)
