Dominican Republic 2013

We have been back for well over a month now and I thought it was about time I shared some photo's with you all. I won't bore you with 100's of photo's because I'm sure you've already seen most of them on Instagram ha ha!

We went on holiday to the Dominican Republic in November which is in the Caribbean for those who don't know where it is. I have been many times with my family when I was younger usually around the same time or over Christmas and have some of the best memories there! When Andy and I were deciding on where to go on holiday we both were really attracted to somewhere with gorgeous beaches, palm trees and it had to be all inclusive. We weren't really fussed on where we went as long as it ticked those three boxes and was family friendly we would book it. We decided to go here even though we were both dreading the 9 hour flight we knew it would be worth it in the end.

We had such a lovely holiday, this was our second family holiday abroad and even though Amelia was older this time we still had a fairly relaxing holiday. It took us a few days to get into a routine and the first few days we would get Amelia off to sleep around lunch time so we had an hour to ourselves at the quiet pool. However Amelia had other ideas and around the 3rd day in she stopped napping so in the end Andy and I would take it in turns to push her around so we both had a bit of sunbathing time. She changed so much on holiday but I think it's because we were spending more time together as a family we noticed it, she was besotted with Andy and wouldn't let him leave her sight and would should daaaaaad or daddy all the time, it was nice to see them both spending more time together as he works such long hours, this was the most time he had spent with her since she was born!

She loved the splash pool and the lifeguard there was great with her and they would dance and play together, we would go there every afternoon. She also liked him because he gave her pina coladas (non alcoholic of course) which resulted in her getting brain freeze and she thought it was hysterical. At the beach after she would get bored of playing with the sand and running in and out of the sea we would take a long walk down the far end of the beach, these walks were lovely and you truly felt like you were in paradise!

We are trying to decide on where to go this year and really want to go somewhere similar again so we shall get looking soon!

    1. Thank you, She was 19/20 months when we were away. She was actually much better than we had thought, it was such a long journey, 2 hours in car > 3 hours waiting at airport > 9+ hour flight > 4+ hours on a tiny minibus crammed with sweaty people lol. She managed to sleep an hour on the plane and then an hour on the minibus. I'd recommend lots of toys and snacks and an iPad!! xx

  8. That looks totally gaaaawwwwjus!! We have been thinking where to go on holiday next year with our little boy (who will be 3) and our new little girl (who will be around 6 months). I don't think there is a 'good' time to take a child on a long haul flight as I bet they all react differently at different ages! We took Harry to Florida when he was 13 months and was absolutely fine (although return night flight was tiring!)
