H20 Mop X5 Steam Cleaner Review

When Thane got in touch and asked whether we would be willing to test out the new H20 Mop X5 we were rather chuffed! I've wanted a steam mop for some time now and especially more recently since our new home has laminate flooring throughout but for some reason never got round to purchasing one.  My mum has been raving about hers for months now and I've always been rather intrigued as to how good they actually are.

When the Mop arrived last month I took it out of the box the minute it arrived, I couldn't wait to get it all set up and give it a go. Putting the mop together was pretty straight forward and I was moping away within 5 minutes. The new sleek red and chic white models sit alongside the now iconic green, allowing you to pick the colour that best suits your decor. I chose the mop in the colour white to keep in tie with the decor of our home and as nice as the bright and bold colours are I prefer to keep our appliances neutral.

Thane, the creators of the H20 X5 steam mop are the pioneers of the home steam cleaning movement and along with that bring years of experience to your home. After selling over 8 million steam cleaners sold worldwide, the H20 X5 works simply by turning ordinary tap water into super charged and continuous steam by injecting 1,300 watts of power to instantly heat the water. Sounds pretty impressive huh?

Features

✓ 400ml water tank and 4 settings allow up to 30 minutes continuous steaming time.

✓ Lightweight, manoeuvrable, versatile and easy to use with a 6m cord and clever head designed to fit into corners and tight spaces.

✓ Cleans, deodorises and helps sanitise without chemicals for a safe hygienic environment eliminating 99% of bacteria.

✓ 5 in 1: Floor Steam Cleaner, Carpet Steamer, Handheld steamer, window cleaner and Garment Steamer.

✓ Good Housekeeping Institute Approved 2013.

It works on virtually any floor surface – slate, granite, sealed hardwood, laminate, vinyl, ceramic tiles and marble. It also comes with a glider attachment to tackle carpets too although I am yet to try this out on carpets yet as we don't have any in our home. It really is extremely versatile. My mum uses hers on her cooking hob and says it's great for that so I must give that a go. I've even used it to clean Amelia's highchair as it gets pretty grubby with her little hands at meal times, I found it great to steam over every once in a while to remove germs.

Thane claims that the mop heats up in just 30 seconds so I was eager to see if it lived up to this - which it does! I poured some tap water into the clear compartment, turned the dial to the highest setting as I was cleaning the kitchen floor and pressed the one off button and the green light came on in 30 seconds. I was very impressed. It's great that you don't have to wait too long for it to heat up and can get cleaning when ever you wish. Manoeuvring the steam cleaner around the kitchen and living room was pretty easy and I've used it around 3 times a week since we've had it so it's definitely getting good use out of.

The wire cable can be easily wrapped round the cleaner and attaches for easy storage. It's a pretty small device and doesn't take up as much room as you'd think. You can hang it on the back of a door or even in a cupboard. You can also adjust the height of the cleaner not that I need to but for someone taller it would be recommended. Especially for my other half who is 6ft 5 not that he ever does any house work though! One thing I would recommend is purchasing a few more of the micro-fibre cloths as you only get one in the box. This isn't a problem as I managed to grab a few more from Amazon but it would make it much easier especially if you are planning on using the mop regularly.

The Thane H20 X5 also comes apart so you can use it as a handheld steamer which is great for cleaning windows and kitchen surfaces. It really is an excellent addition to our house full of cleaning products. I was rather impressed with how black the micro-fibre cloth was after the first use and how sparkling our floor now is. I would highly recommend the H20 MOP X5 steam cleaner for anyone who is tired of scrubbing floors as well as fantastic steam mop. I love the fact that it doesn't require any chemicals, just water which is great with a toddler who likes to lick the floor every now and then! Another plus is that the device is very lightweight and portable meaning I can take it upstairs very easily.

Pros

✓ The H2O Mop requires only water to clean and disinfect floors!
✓ The H2O Mop is easy to use and requires little assembly and maintenance.
✓ The H2O Mop is capable of removing the toughest sticky messes nearly effortlessly.
✓ Stores away easily especially good for small spaces.
✓ Swivel triangular shaped head make cleaning in tight spaces much easier.
✓ Microfiber pads are machine washable.
✓ Light weight and portable.

Cons

✓ Without care, too much steam can be dispersed leaving floors too wet.
The micro-fibre cloths need replacing regularly

You can purchase the Thane H20 X5 at Thane Direct and it retails at £99.99 which in my opinion is a great price for a 5 in 1 mop! Especially for the quality of the cleaning system. I have come across others  in the past which appear to be rather flimsy where as this looks and feels much sturdier and practical.

Do you have a steam mop? What do you think of the H20 MOP X5?

  3. I've thought many times about getting a steam mop, however I have resisted due to believing that I couldn't use it on my laminate flooring (I thought the steam would get under it and make it lift). Thanks for this review, I might have to reconsider!

  24. Steam mops are pretty good to have if you don’t have time to go to the dry cleaners and prefer to do your own cleaning up in the house. For me this specific steam mop model has been good to me. It’s my first purchase on this kind of appliance and I can say it hasn’t disappointed me. Quite easy to use, though you have to be careful on the amount of water you put in the tank and the exposure of the steam to one area. I will tell you, things will get wet and soaked fast. But so far, it’s an effective disinfectant seeing as it’s sterilized and steamed, and you know how bacteria aren’t too keen on heat so it’s great for effective clean ups especially if someone got sick in the house. Great for clothes too amazingly, makes it easier for me to iron clothes after a good steam session.
