Christmas Gift Guide 2013: For Toddlers

Having a toddler myself I know how tricky it can be buying for toddlers in the family. I never know what to buy for other toddlers as you never know what they already have. I have picked out some great gift ideas which will hopefully give you some ideas for gifting this Christmas!

Wooden double sided easel £50

This sturdy double-sided wooden easel is great for creative activities, and features a wipe-clean chalk board and a white board, along with a roll of paper that can be held flat against the easel with the magnets provided. This is also great for painting masterpieces and for easy storage you simply remove the tray and fold the easel flat. Great for your child's development and to allow them to enjoy art. I've actually bought this for my daughter this year and can't wait to see her face on Christmas day.

Sorgenfresser Plush Toy £25*

This soft plush toy from the Toadstool is a great way to help your child through a difficult time and find out more about what is worrying them. The Sorgenfresser (Worry Eaters) are recommended by psychologists and teachers as a waste bin for problems, as children have fears and troubles and woes and don't always tell their parents about them. The children can write or draw their troubles and feed them into the zip mouth of the Worry Eater. Not that this solves all problems straight away, but the first step has been taken and you can be sure it will provide an immediate feeling of relief. And when the Worry Eater tells the parents about the problems, they can talk to their children about them. What's more, Worry Eaters are nice and cuddly in both good times and bad and not just for children. Also available to purchase in different colours too.

Scooters

All toddlers like to be active and get outdoors or at least us parents like to think they do. You can find a fantastic range of scooters at Big W for toddlers of all ages for both boys and girls. I always remember as a little girl having a scooter at my grandparents up in Scotland and having so much fun with my brothers in the garden wheeling around on the patio. Of course since then scooters have developed much more and are far more equipped now than they were 20 years ago!

Lilly & Sid Toddler Clothing £5-£35*

Lilly & Sids new range of baby clothing from the AW13 collection 'Out of this world' now goes up to 24 months for older boys and girls. It is inspired by the imaginative play of children, focusing on trend led pieces which are funky and fun every day wear. I am particularly loving the girls collection including hearts, stars, bows and flowers and the boys along with rockets, starts and retro robots - how adorable! I am a huge fan of Lilly + Sid and have added quite a few items onto my to buy list for next year. Also whilst you're on the website its worth checkout out their toys and gifts categories as there's bound to be something that will catch your eyes!

Wheelybugs go backwards, forwards, sideways, round and round... they can be ridden, pushed, pulled, kissed and cuddled! These ride on bugs are great for both boys and girls, and alsmost have a magical mind of their own. They are loved by all toddlers and can be used from a young age. Wheelybugs are designed to offer hours of robust fun and help to promote self-confidence along with motor skills. I love the bright and friendly designs of these and they come in a range of various characters.

Table & Chair Set (12 months+)

You can never go wrong with a table and chair set for a toddler. These can be used for meal times, for creative play, watching tv, and crafts... the options are endless. Plus they look super cute! You can find various ones online including Argos, ELC, Ikea and many other toy retailers.

Minnie's Macaroon provide high quality hand made and fair trade products for adults, children and babies all at affordable prices. Their aim is to create unique fun and not available on the high street crochet hats and gifts that everyone will love and cherish. From baby soft toys to crochet beanie hats there's bound to be something that will take your fancy. The beanie hats are super adorable for toddlers and young children and they have a huge selection of hats to choose from.

Ugg Boots

Gift a pair of UGG boots this Christmas which will be greatly appreciated in the winter months. From Uggs for boys, girls and unisex you'll be sure to find something to suit every little one's feet.

Many parents buy their toddler a play kitchen when they reach a certain age and take an interest in their kitchen at home. Let their imagination run wild and whip you up something yummy in their kitchen, then once you've eaten they can wash and dry the dishes and put them all away! This will create hours of endless fun for your little one! They also come in a variety of different models, sizes and colours so there's something to suit everyone.

Flora's Fairy Garden - WOW Toys £25*

Thank heavens for toys that don't require batteries! It will be a relief for all parents not to have to put battieries in this toy. Let your child fantasy role play with Flora's Fairy Garden. Wow toys don't rely on batteries and help children develop through creative play, aimed at kids aging from 18 months right up until 5 years old and even beyond that!! Flora’s Fairy Garden includes two removable figures Flora and Florence the fairy. Toddlers will have so much fun exploring Floras magical secret garden and meeting her fairy friend Florence. Exploring the waterfall pool in Flora’s garden where you can tip toe across the lily pads, along the stepping stones where you will meet Francis the frog, who loves to twirl.

Musical Instrument Set (18 months+, RRP £27.99)

An eye-catching, unique owl-shaped musical instrument set, complete with: cymbal, drums, xylophone and guiro. The two beaters are perfectly sized for little hands and can be safely stored in the owl’s feet when not in use, while the two small back legs create a tilt for easy play. The toy enhances listening skills and stimulates the senses – making every playtime more musical!

What are you getting your toddler for Christmas this year?
