Thinking Ahead - Ideas For The Garden

I know we are only just coming up to winter now but it has got me thinking about getting the garden ready for next summer. We have just moved house and obviously it will need some work doing to it. I don't want to do much, however I would like to make it nice and colourful with lots of pretty plants and flowers. Something we didn't do at the old house, to be honest we neglected it.

I was thinking of getting Amelia to help me to plant some plug plants in the spring in preparation for the summer. I have found a fantastic range of seeds on Suttons for flowers and plants. She will be two by then and much more helpful than last year. It will be fun to teach her how to plant and dig up the soil and hopefully she will become a great little gardner as frantically i'm not at all. I'm hoping to get some plant pots out the back and make it look much prettier and also some big artificial plants or small trees to go at the front of the house.

I would love to put up some decking and also get a barbecue this year as last year we made without. We already have a set of table and chairs so that's handy and we don't need to worry about buying new ones although I would love a set of rattan chairs they look so comfy! I really want the garden to be somewhere nice for Amelia to play in as she will be older. I am thinking of buying her a slide and playhouse for her birthday in April so I would like to get started on it before then and hopefully we will have some nice weather around then!

Do your children like to help you in the garden?
