We are heading off on holiday in just three weeks time and the panic is begining to set in. Yes we have done it before with Amelia but she was only 6 months old back then, it was much easier to get her to sleep and she would just nurse. She is much bigger this time round and will be taking up much more room and also be awake for the majority of the flight. This is a 9+ hour flight, when we went abroad last time it was only a 4 hour flight. See my worry there? I'm talking about a toddler who doesn't sit still for longer than 5 minutes at a time on a 9 hour flight, why did I think this would be a good idea?! I have been looking at Cruise deals in the Caribbean for next year already as it's somewhere I know we will want to continue visiting and next time we can see Barbados and Cuba too and won't have to worry about the long flight, she can run around the ship instead!
Here's everything that I have bought so far for the flight and they will all be going in her trunki as her carry on luggage. If you have any other suggestions on how to keep a 19 month old toddler occupied on a plane for such a long period of time please do throw them at me! I have plenty of snacked stocked up and the iPad too.
Toddler neck rest // Trunk ride on // Jigsaw's // Mini Megasketcher
Cath kidston Backpack // Stacking cups // Sticker books // Crayons // Toy phone
I love this adorable panda neck rest. It will be great for the car journey to the airport as well as on the plane to keep her neck comfortable. We will be taking her Trunki on board for her hand luggage to keep all of her toys and snacks in, I thought it would be easier than taking another bag and hopefully she will be interested in playing with it. I've bought a few of these mini jigsaw puzzles to keep her occupied on the plane, they are quiet small but they are really cute! I have bought Amelia a megasketcher for Christmas and saw that they sold mini ones too so I figured it would be great for travelling. She loves to draw so hopefully this will entertain her for a little while.
I am also packing plenty of colouring books, crayons, sticker books, as well as paper as this should keep her settled for a little while. I thought stacking cups would be great to keep her quiet for a little while, she's never played with them before which is great as she shouldn't get bored of them right away, the toy phone is also new. I've been told that new toys tend to keep them happy for longer than toys they have played with numerous times before so we're taking lots of new items. Also in her Trunki will be the iPad downloaded with plenty of disney programmes and a couple of movies, snacks, and a few favourite toys and soft toys. Fingers crossed everything fits!
I think i've got everything covered, but I'd love to hear what suggestions you may have as I may have forgotten something. Do let me know!
