When I first started this little blog, I had no idea how many people would read it or what it would evolve into, it was predominantly a way for me to record Amelia as she grew. I still find it hard to believe just how much my blog has grown since then, and the number of you lovely people out there who read it.
For some people blogging has become a full time job, and whilst I’m not at that stage, I have been considering getting some business cards printed to advertise Oh So Amelia. Business cards would be really useful when attending blogging events or any press days in the future, I could hand them out to people with all my contact details and blog URL on.
I decided to have a play around online mocking up a few designs. There are a number of online printing companies who offer business card printing.
I wanted to keep the information on the card minimal; I didn’t want all the text to look squashed or cluttered. There are lots of different options when it comes to designing business cards, which I hadn’t really thought about. However, I found it really easy to design a truly individual and unique business card that I love.
Some of the design options I came across include:
- Silk and gloss finish
- Matt finish
- Uncoated finish
Business cards are great for any self-employed business or blogger like me, wanting to pass their information on to possible contacts. If designed properly, your business card should represent you, and your personality as well as your services. A good business card can even lead to future work projects. If someone has your information and details to hand when they are looking for someone, you are in a much better position than someone without a business card.
There are many benefits from business cards; they are reasonably priced, making them an affordable marketing tool. A well-designed card is one that people will keep, and not throw away as soon as they receive it. A business card represents honesty, reliability and trustworthiness as you are attaching your name to a card which you are then going to hand out.
Business cards contain all the information that a potential customer would need to get in touch, usually name, phone number and email address; I would also include my blog website. A convenient size; they are usually 3.5 inches by 2 inches, making them the perfect size to fit in a purse or wallet for safe keeping.
I would recommend business cards for anyone wanting to really sell themselves and their business. With all the great finishes available, it is easy to create a business card with personality.
