Best Sports For Mums in 2013

Whether you are a new mum, or you are a seasoned professional, keeping fit as a stay at home mum is not easy. You may be paying for a gym membership that you never seem to get the time to use, or you could be stuck for time to get outside for that jog. There are many reasons that we simply feel that we don’t have the time to keep fit anymore, but don’t despair, there are ways that you can keep fit and have fun doing so. Here are some of the top ways to stay fit in 2013.

Join a Team

One of the biggest issues faced by stay at home mums is the concern about becoming isolated. OK, so you have friends, but they may not have children, or understand your role as a mother. So, why not get fit, make friends and get fresh air all at the same time by joining a local team sport. This could be tennis, dance, football, hockey....the list goes on and on. All you need to decide is which sport you enjoy the most - you don’t need to be a professional or have ever played it before to give it a go.

There is more to choosing a team sport than just overall fitness. There is the added bonus of healthy competition, building of friendships and sharing a passion of yours with others. You could even join in playing fantasy leagues or placing bets - it is easy, for example you can check out the football odds at Youwin and be in with the chance to win some money too.

YouTube Yoga

There are many fitness ideas and classes that can be gained from Youtube and the best bit is that they can be done from the comfort of your own home. This is the perfect choice for new mums, especially when there is little time between feeds and changes, as you will only need to give up a small amount of time each day.

There are many classes that can be performed via Youtube, from Zumba to belly dancing, but one of the best is yoga. This is the perfect exercise for new mums as it strengthens your core muscles, regains your flexibility and also offers us the chance to de-stress. You may have taken yoga before, but there are many stages and levels you can start off at, from beginners to intermediate levels - there is something for everyone. All you will need is the space and some flexible clothing = easy.

Get Back to Nature

There are many fitness techniques that can also involve your family, which as a stay at home mum, may be an excellent choice. Equally many of these forms are performed outside in the fresh air. From jogging, horse riding, hiking and even rollerblading, the list goes on and on. Why not pick a fitness type that you can do a couple of times a week when the children are with you - rollerblading is a great example of this. Take a picnic, head to the park and start whizzing along. You will end up having so much fun that you won't even notice that you are getting great workout in the process.

  3. That's what i've experienced. I realized that I have been isolating myself from the outside world since i had a baby. She took all my time for taking care of her. Sometimes i felt crazy and so lonely when doing all things by myself. I thougt that i need to have change, and i did it. I spent time on my hobbies like doing yoga or hanging out with my friends. Really great, i feel better and happier. And I'm having a plan to join a dance club, I also love dancing.
