SodaStream Source Review

With this heatwave we've been having here in the UK the past couple of weeks what's better than sitting in the garden with a few drinks watching the sun go down. SodaStream very kindly sent me a Soda Stream Source and a pack of syrups to test out and I will be sharing my thoughts on them with you today.

I am a huge fan of fizzy drinks, I actually don't drink any thing else so when SodaStream got in touch I was very excited. I fell in love with Sodastream at BritMum's Live when I was introduced to the brand and a few cheeky drinks. SodaStream are the leading brand in home carbonation for soft drinks in millions of homes across the world. Their drinks makers, flavours, gas cylinders and bottles are retailed in thousands of stores across Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Australia which is why they are the world's leading brand.

SodaStream is actually a brand that was born in the UK, and many parents today may remember the old SodaStream makers which were extremely popular back in the day and still are today! Every year SodaStream provides over 600 million litres of carbonated beverage to more than 10 million homes, making it one of the largest beverage companies in the world.

Perfect for entertaining guests outside on hot summer days!

Upon unboxing the machine I was rather impressed with the quality of the SodaStream. I was sent the Source Metal Edition in Blue. Inside the box was the machine itself, a gas cylinder, pack of tester syrups and the soda bottle. We were also sent a few other larger bottles with mixers to try out.

It was extremely easy to put together, you simply take the bottle out of the back and insert the gas cylinder into place. With a few simple twists it's locked into place and you can start using your Sodastream. First impressions were of joy that it would fit neatly in my kitchen as the unit is pretty thin and there's no cables!

You firstly need to fill up the bottle with cold tap water up to the line stated. Once filled if you push it upwards against the machine and push it forward it will clip into place for you. It sort of grabs it, there is little effort at all, so would be very easy for the kids to use.

Next you need to push down on the machine and decide what level of fizz you would like. It will make a whizzing sound and then release gas when you push back up on the lever. Personally I prefer it at number one or two, I think it had enough fizz at that stage but of course if you would like more you could continue until the light reaches the top stage. Although I guess it would use up your gas cylinder very quickly that way and I've been told people have felt light headed with it being that fizzy.

I love this part of making the drinks, it's so much fun watching the bubbles... yes I'm a big kid! But seriously it's exciting to watch.

Once you have your sparking water all you need to do is decide on a flavour, my personal favourite is pink grapefruit its so yummy! I could drink it all day if Dr Pepper ran out. With the bigger bottles pictured above you only need a capful of syrup. It's simple to pour in however does get rather sticky if you pour it everywhere so do it slowly. Also if you pour it too fast the fizzy water can become hyperactive and explode - yep I learnt that one! Just remember to pour it slowly and you'll be fine.

Have a glass ready with plenty of ice and pour. I like adding fruit to my drinks and if people are round I get out these cute paper straws for an added touch.

Of course Sodastream isn't just for the hot weather, it's a great drink for any day of the week no matter the weather. It also makes a lot of fun for the kids on rainy days. Another bonus is no more bottles and cans to recycle each week! You will only have one plastic bottle to rinse out after use. What's better than that?! I love the fact that is is portable. We have taken it to the beach, my parents house and to the park on a family day out.

Overall we love our Sodastream and can't wait to get much more use out of it. I would highly recommend buying one to anyone and everyone especially if you are a fan of fizzy drinks. It will save you a lot of money in the long run- trust me! There's so many flavours to choose from and there's something for everyone!

You can purchase your own Sodastream here and can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter for news and promotions. They regularly have offers on their bottles!

* We were sent a Sodastream Source for the purpose of the review. All opinions are 100% honest and I can't thank Sodastream enough for allowing us to test it out!

  5. We had a Sodastream at home a very long time ago. It was the orange ones with the white flip side that you shoved the bottle up into and then had to close up. The button to get the gas was on top and you just gave it a couple of pushes (that's what I was told to do) I loved it but the gas ran out too quickly and with quite a few youngsters around the flavours didn't last very long so it became a rather expensive way to have a fizzy drink.. but it was still great fun :-)

I think i'l try the new model soon, it sounds real easy to use and I am not surrounded by children all the time. Also they have so many more different flavours. Was nice reading your thoughts, brings back memories for me lol, ty x
